Abstract:

A vehicle disablement device disables a vehicle if it is determined that the vehicle disablement device is being tampered with. A signal is periodically sent from a tamper transmitter to a tamper receiver. A tamper transmitter determines whether the vehicle is being tampered with. The periodic sending of the signal is inhibited if it is determined that the vehicle is being tampered with. The vehicle is disabled if the periodic sending of the signal is inhibited.

A vehicle disablement device detects whether it has been tampered with. If the vehicle disablement device determines that it has been tampered with, the vehicle disablement device sends a signal to a tamper disabler. The tamper disabler is then able to disable the vehicle in the same manner in which the vehicle disablement device disables the vehicle. Accordingly, the vehicle may be disabled even when the vehicle disablement device is tampered with.

Abstract:

A pressure compensating IV rate flow regulator having a housing with a metering port and an outlet. The flow rate is set by adjusting a flexible disk to vary the clearance between a metering port and flow passageway. The controlled fluid passes to a land surrounding the outlet. A flexible control membrane having specific design and material characteristics extends across the land and will move or oscillate away or towards the outlet port in response to changes in head pressure, venous back pressure or patient movement. The resulting oscillation of the membrane serves to maintain the flow rate originally set by the clinician. The regulator is provided with safety and operational convenience features such as tactile indicators for “off” and KVO settings and has provision for use with accessory items such as a pole mount holder or anchoring device secured at the forearm or chest.

Abstract:

In an automated code delivery system a user can pay for and request one or more codes from a bank, an automated teller machine, a convenience store, grocery store or a check cashing store, all of which are convenient payment receiving centers. A device at a convenient payment receiving center will interact with the finance company to forward a payment for financed goods. The finance company then provides an indication to an automated code delivery computer that payments have been received for a financed purchase. If payments have been received, the convenient payment receiving center can obtain one or more codes from an automated code delivery computer. Accordingly, payments for financed purchases can be made in a shorter period of time than the normal method of sending payments by mail. Further, after the payment is made, the user can almost instantaneously receive a code which prevents disablement of the user's financed purchase.

Abstract:

A method for imaging film with color separations and text which eliminates manual stripping and the use of mylar carriers. Color separation data from a color scanner is stored digitally on a computer. Text is input directly into the computer. The data for the images and text is manipulated digitally to compose a page layout. The computer then instructs an image setter to image the complete, composed page onto four pieces of film in the four color printing colors--cyan, magenta, yellow and black. The imaged film is used to make lithographic printing plates for color printing. The image setter used in the method includes a specially pinned drum having pins corresponding to pins used during imposition. Blank film has prepunched holes corresponding to the pins on the pinned drum so that the imaged film comes off of the drum with images and text in position and register relative to the pin holes. The labor intensive steps of manually stripping film onto mylar carriers is eliminated.
