Abstract:
Apparatus for treating waste material having a thermal chamber, a feed-stock inlet coupled to the thermal chamber and feeds waste material into the thermal chamber, a heater that heats the thermal chamber, and at least one dual knife gate valve positioned in the apparatus for restricting the passage of the waste material through an interior space of the apparatus and limits the introduction of gas into the thermal chamber. The dual knife gate valve has at least one movable blade that moves toward another blade.

US Classification:
110229000, 110346000
Abstract:
A pyrolysis waste treatment system having a pyrolyzer and a thermal oxidizer that are aligned in a partially or completely piggybacked fashion, and heat from the exhaust gas of the thermal oxidizer is shunted back to the pyrolyzer to help sustain pyrolysis. Such conduits can have any suitable configuration, including for example where the conduit extends from sides (as opposed to the ends) of each of the pyrolyzer and the thermal oxidizer. Contemplated pyrolyzers and the thermal oxidizers can have any suitable dimensions, but are preferably at least 5 meters long, and have a cross sectional area of at least 10 m. In most contemplated embodiments, the thermal oxidizer has a length within 20% of the length of the pyrolyzer.

US Classification:
110230
Abstract:
A pyrolysis device has a pyrolyzer (retort) and a thermal oxidizer, each with its own burner, but coupled so that the burner of the pyrolyzer can be down-regulated as heat from the thermal oxidizer is used to hear the pyrolyzer. One or more automatic controllers preferably adjust a burn rate of the extrinsic gas by the first burner as a function of a rate at which heat is transferred from the thermal oxidizer to the pyrolyzer. In preferred embodiments, the burn rate of the extrinsic gas can be adjusted to ≦50%, ≦30% or even lower relative to a base rate that would be required to pyrolyze the waste without the heat thermal oxidizer.
Piggybacked Pyrolyzer And Thermal Oxidizer With Enhanced Exhaust Gas Transfer
Cameron Cole - Rainbow CA, US Toby L. Cole - Temecula CA, US Dan Watts - Surfside CA, US Raul de la Torres - Bell Gardens CA, US Michael Scott Sorrell - San Jacinto CA, US
International Classification:
F23G 5/00
US Classification:
110235
Abstract:
A waste treatment system is disclosed having: (1) a pyrolyzer comprising an inner and outer chamber, wherein the inner chamber further comprises a syngas outlet; (2) a thermal oxidizer comprising an elongated combustion chamber; (3) an exhaust gas transfer duct fluidly coupled to the combustion chamber of the thermal oxidizer and the outer chamber of the pyrolyzer; and (4) a particulate separator for removing particulates from the syngas. In preferred embodiments the pyrolyzer and the thermal oxidizer are aligned in piggybacked configuration, such that the hot exhaust gases from the thermal oxidizer are shunted back to the outer chamber of the pyrolyzer. Preferred thermal oxidizer and the exhaust gas transfer duct are configured to allow a three second residence time of the syngas, such that the system operates at an efficiency of at least 15 therms (thm) per ton of municipal waste.
