  • Apparatus For Creating Therapeutic Charge Transfer In Tissue

    view source
  • US Patent:
    7288062, Oct 30, 2007
  • Filed:
    Mar 12, 2004
  • Appl. No.:
    10/801168
  • Inventors:
Michael Spiegel - Miami Beach FL, US
  • International Classification:
    A61N 2/02
  • US Classification:
    600 9
  • Abstract:
An apparatus for creating therapeutic charge transfer in tissue includes a coil. The coil generates a changing magnetic field to induct an electric field in the tissue exceeding 10 mV/cm when the coil is 5 cm from the tissue. Preferably, the magnetic field has a growth phase and a decay phase and a duration of the growth phase is at least ten times a duration of the decay phase. The apparatus can include a control circuit to control a current fed to the coil. The control circuit includes two subcircuits and a switch for switching between a first of the subcircuits and a second of the subcircuits; preferably, a λ of the second subcircuit is at least ten times a λ of the first subcircuit. To generate the therapeutic effect, the coil should have a duty cycle of at least ten percent.
  • Appararus And Method For Magnetic Induction Of Therapeutic Electric Fields

  • US Patent:
    20030093028, May 15, 2003
  • Filed:
    Nov 9, 2001
  • Appl. No.:
    10/035854
  • Inventors:
Michael Spiegel - Miami Beach FL, US
  • International Classification:
    A61N001/22
    A61N001/18
  • US Classification:
    604/020000, 607/003000
  • Abstract:
An apparatus and method utilize changing magnetic fields created either by arrays of spatially translating permanent magnets or by a series of sequentially energized electromagnets. The time changing magnetic fields induce electric currents throughout a treated volume of human blood, bone, tissue, organs, or nerves. A first method utilizes permanent magnets mounted in a sequential stepwise manner and moved in space so that the movement and subsequent changing field strength of such magnets will induce an Electromotive force. The electromotive force will induce an electron current in the infused volume that is directly proportional to the strength of the magnetic field and the velocity of that field relative to the electrons at each point of the infused volume. A second method utilizes a series of electromagnets fitted closely together and sequentially energized to effect a uniformly increasing induced magnetic field in the treatment volume.

  • US Patent:
    RE358266, Jun 23, 1998
  • Filed:
    Apr 5, 1995
  • Appl. No.:
    8/417143
  • Inventors:
Michael S. Spiegel - Miami Beach FL
  • Assignee:
Advatech Research & Development, Inc. - West Palm Beach FL
  • International Classification:
    C02F 148
  • US Classification:
    210695
  • Abstract:
A fluid treatment system. Iadd. and method. Iaddend. for changing the rates of growth of certain crystals and other solids formed within a fluid is disclosed herein. The apparatus includes a variable speed motor having a shaft, and a wheel assembly mounted on the shaft. The wheel assembly includes two circular ferro-magnetic disks separated from each other on the shaft a pre-determined distance to form a gap, and a ferro-magnetic spacer member concentrically arranged about the shaft and located in the gap between the disks. An array of magnets is concentrically arranged in a circular pattern about the shaft on the inner surface of each of the disks with the polarity of the inner pole faces of the magnets on one of the disks bang the same as each other and the polarity of the inner pole faces of the magnets on the other of the disks being the same as each other but opposite to the polarity of the inner pole faces of said magnets on the one disk. An elongated fluid conduit having a U-shaped non-magnetic portion is located in the gap formed by the disks between the inner pole faces of the magnets, the U-shaped non-magnetic portion of the conduit being hollow so as to have no obstruction for continuous fluid flow therethrough, wherein sufficient magnetic force is provided by the combination of the strength of the magnets, velocity of the fluid, and rotation of the magnets to accomplish beneficial effects on impurities in the fluid.

  • Multihull Sailing Craft And Hull Structure Therefor

    view source
  • US Patent:
    42248892, Sep 30, 1980
  • Filed:
    Dec 7, 1978
  • Appl. No.:
    5/967451
  • Inventors:
Michael S. Spiegel - Miami Beach FL
  • Assignee:
Separate Reality, Inc. - Miami Beach FL
  • International Classification:
    B63B 120
  • US Classification:
    114 39
  • Abstract:
A sailing-multihull hull shape is disclosed which is designed to produce hydrodynamic lift in addition to static buoyant displacement lift. The dynamic lift is generated in direct proportion to the horizontal surface area times the square of the velocity of this surface through the water. High-lift, relatively low drag horizontal surface area is provided by a series of horizontal steps on V-shaped amas (sponsons or pontoons) and preferably on the center hull, if any. The width of the steps preferably increases from the keel up, so that the widest is nearest the deck. To reduce drag through wake induced turbulence, it is also preferred to rotate back into the basic V-hull shape so that at the stern there are no visible steps. The enhanced lift produced by the steps can significantly increase the stability and righting moment of the sailing-multihull, and allow a greater load carrying ability with less reduction of speed.
