Prior to the release of this video, NASA released an outstanding work of Miguel Roman and his colleagues showcasing lighting patterns across the globe during holidays. The nighttime light output was studied across different regions by the space agencys Goddard Space Flight Center.
"We were really surprised to see this vibrant increase in activity during the holidays," research physical scientist Miguel Roman explained, "and particularly around areas in the suburbs where you have a lot of single family homes with a lot of yard space to put lights."
