A vertical motion wave power generator having a flotation device, a vertical support structure fixed to the ocean bottom, and a single power shaft attached rotatably to the flotation device. By the use of a pair of one-way clutches the single power shaft converts the up and down motion of ocean waves into continuous unidirectional rotational force to drive an electric generator. The power shaft, transmission, and generator are all attached to the flotation device and move up and down in unison with the flotation device.
A paddle wheel-driven horizontal wave generator system which is situated on the ocean shore for converting shore waves to unidirectional rotational force for generating power. By the use of a pair of one-way clutches on a single power shaft the incoming and outgoing motion of ocean waves is converted into continuous unidirectional rotational force to drive an electric generator. The generator system is attached to a base having troughs. The lower portions of the paddle wheels are positioned in the troughs, and engage incoming and outgoing shore waves which rotate the axle of the paddle wheels in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction. The one-way clutches convert the bi-directional rotation of the paddle wheel axle to unidirectional rotation of the power shaft.
Apparatus And Method For Lifting And Rotating Pipes
An apparatus and method for lifting, rotating, and positioning heavy objects using a toggle device attached to a prime mover. The toggle is vertical at rest and can be inserted into the opening in the side of a pipe. The toggle is rendered horizontal inside the pipe by the activation of a solenoid and the pipe can then be lifted by the prime mover. The pipe can be rotated to any desired fixed position by a hydraulic cylinder moving a piston through a piston sleeve having spiral grooves. The entire lifting and positioning of a heavy object with the toggle device can be completed by a single user operating from within the prime mover. The present invention eliminates the hazards of workers getting buried in ditches and/or having their hands and fingers injured.
