An exhaust gas recirculation valve ( ) for an engine including a valve housing ( ), a motor housing ( ), and a sensor housing ( ). The motor housing ( ) has an armature ( ) disposed therein that is movable to cause a valve ( ) to move in relation to a valve seat ( ). The outer periphery of the armature ( ) is in contact with an armature bearing ( ). The armature bearing ( ) has an upper portion ( ) in communication with a flux return ( ) and a lower portion ( ) in communication with a pole piece ( ). One of either the flux return ( ) or the pole piece ( ) is located so as to reduce an air gap ( ) therebetween.
