Abstract:

An electronic device in a wireless power system may be operable with a removable accessory such as a case. The device may convey wireless power to, from, or through the case while the device is coupled to the case. The device may have coplanar power transmitting and power receiving coils. The removable accessory may have an embedded switchable ferrimagnetic core and a coil that overlaps the switchable ferrimagnetic core. The switchable ferrimagnetic core may be operable in a first state where the switchable ferrimagnetic core is unsaturated. The switchable ferrimagnetic core may be operable in a second state where the switchable ferrimagnetic core is saturated by a magnetic field from a permanent magnet in a wireless power transmitting device. In the second state, the switchable ferrimagnetic core may have a lower magnetic permeability and higher magnetic reluctance than in the first state.

Abstract:

A device in a wireless power system may be operable with a removable accessory such as a case. The device may transmit or receive wireless power through the case while the electronic device is coupled to the case. The case may have a folio shape with a front cover portion that covers the display of the electronic device. The case may have an embedded ferrimagnetic core that relays magnetic flux during wireless power transfer operations. Magnetic alignment structures in the case may position the ferrimagnetic core in the case in a high magnetic flux density region between the power transmitting device and the power receiving device. The ferrimagnetic core relays the magnetic flux between a transmitting coil in the power transmitting device and a receiving coil in the power receiving device. The ferrimagnetic core may be formed in a front portion, a sidewall, or a rear wall of a case.

A biometric signal graphical analysis system is described. In an embodiment, a graphical data preprocessing module is configured to receive a biometric graph and generate a normalized biometric graph. A graphical image analysis module is configured to receive and machine process the normalized biometric graph and generate a machine representation. A biometric information module generates an additional machine representation of biometric information combinable with the machine representation of the graphical image analysis module. Abstract:

A computer-implemented method for determining a heart rate and respiratory rate from a radio frequency signal comprises inputting a radio frequency signal obtained from a test subject into a neural network. The method further comprises training the neural network using the radio frequency signal and extracting a heart rate and a respiratory rate from the radio frequency signal using the neural network. Further, the method comprises comparing the heart rate and the respiratory rate extracted from the radio frequency signal to a verifiable heart rate and verifiable respiratory rate for the test subject to compute an error measure. Finally, the method comprises using the error measure to apply back propagation to adjust front end parameters for one or more layers of the neural networks to improve a prediction accuracy of the neural network.

Abstract:

A mechanism is provided in data processing system comprising at least one processor and at least one memory, the at least one memory comprising instructions that are executed by the at least one processor to specifically configure the at least one processor to implement a common labeled annotated document converter. A transcription service receives a natural language electronic document to be annotated for processing by a cognitive computing system. The cognitive computing system performs natural language processing and cognitive analysis of features extracted from content of the natural language electronic document based on annotations associated with the natural language electronic document. The transcription service processes the natural language electronic document to convert the natural language electronic document from a first format of the natural language electronic document to a common labeled annotated document (CLAD) format. The CLAD format specifies a common set of annotations useable by different elements of the cognitive computing system.

Embodiments of remote health monitoring systems and methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, a plurality of sensors is configured for contact-free monitoring of at least one bodily function. A signal processing module communicatively coupled with the plurality of sensors is configured to receive data from the plurality of sensors. A first sensor is configured to generate a first set of data associated with a first bodily function. A second sensor is configured to generate a second set of data associated with a second bodily function. A third sensor is configured to generate a third set of data associated with a third bodily function. Abstract:

Mechanisms are provided to implement an annotation mechanism allows users to annotate documents with annotations for processing by a cognitive medical system. The annotation mechanism receives, via a user interface, a user selection of an electronic document for annotation, and determines one or more domains associated with the selected electronic document from an analysis of metadata associated with the selected electronic document. The annotation mechanism retrieves a predefined set of annotations associated with each determined domain, and presents the predefined set of annotations as user selectable elements. The annotation mechanism receives, via the user interface, a selection of one or more annotations in the predefined set of annotations to be associated with the selected portion of the selected electronic document, and generates annotation metadata associating the selected portion using the selected one or more annotations. The annotation mechanism then generates an annotated electronic document using the annotated metadata.

Abstract:

An inductive power transmitter is provided that includes a power transmitting coil which includes transmission circuitry coupled to the power transmitting coil. The inductive power transmitter is configured to produce an inductive power transfer (IPT) signal having an IPT power so that the power transmitting coil generates an IPT field to transfer wireless power to a power receiving coil of an inductive power receiver. The inductive power transmitter includes detection circuitry coupled to the transmission circuitry and is configured to detect one or more indications of a magnetic field strength of a leakage IPT field. The inductive power transmitter includes control circuitry configured to control the transmission circuitry while the transmission circuitry is increasing the IPT power towards a charge level sufficient to charge a battery associated with the inductive power receiver at a target charge rate.
