Abstract:

The Translucent Proxying of TCP (TPOT) device and methods use TCP-OPTIONS and IP tunneling to guarantee that all IP packets belonging to a specific TCP connection will traverse the proxy which intercepts the first packet of data. This guarantee allows the ad-hoc deployment of TPOT devices anywhere within the communication network, and does not restrict the placement of proxy devices at the edge of the network. Furthermore, no extra signaling support is required for the TPOT device to properly function while the addition of TPOT devices to communication networks significantly improves the throughput of intercepted TCP packets of data.

Abstract:

A data storage control unit is coupled to one or more host devices and to one or more physical storage units, the storage control unit configured as a plurality of clusters. Each cluster includes cache memory and often non-volatile storage (NVS). The storage control unit receives and processes write requests from the host devices and directs that data updates be temporarily stored in the cache in one cluster and copied to the NVS of the other cluster. The data updates are subsequently destaged to the logical ranks associated with each cluster. During an initial microcode load (IML) of the storage controller, space in the cache and NVS of each cluster is allocated to buffers with the remaining cache and NVS space being allocated to customer data. After an IML has been completed, the size of the buffers become fixed and no further buffer allocation may occur. Method, apparatus and program product are provided by which a data storage controller dynamically reconfigures NVS and cache memory in multiple clusters, particularly when it is desired to change the size of the NVS and cache of either or both clusters.

Abstract:

Accessory for attaching to a garment includes an elongate, flexible strip and attachment elements each arranged at a longitudinal end of the strip and partially within the strip. Each attachment element adjustably engages with the sheet or sheets of material at respective locations. Upon engagement of attachment elements at the respective locations on the garment, the strip connects the locations together, maintaining them in a stable, spaced apart relationship. In order to hem a pant or temporarily shorten a sleeve, the accessory's strip is attached via one of the attachment elements at a first location, and then the other attachment element is attached at a second distal location. The strip is positioned within the pant hems, temporarily reducing the circumference thereof. To do so, it should be wrapped over the front area of the ankle to maintain the back hem, or inside the sleeve linings on the seams adjustably placed.
