Abstract:

A wallboard joint compound package is provided, including a container defining an interior space and configured for being sealed, a first component of ready-mixed joint compound being disposed in the interior space to a level which leaves a pre-determined head space, and an upper surface of the component is defined in the container. A second component is provided, including water, and is placed in the interior space upon the upper surface, such that the first and second components remain substantially distinct prior to opening of the container.

A wallboard joint compound includes a base joint compound having a homogeneous, paste-like blend of water and at least one of a filler, a binder, a thickener, a suspending agent, a biocide, a preservative, a mineral filler and expanded perlite; and an additive discretely added to the base joint compound to be available for use once mixed into the base joint compound just prior to application of the wallboard joint compound by a user.

Abstract:

A joint compound container including a base member having a sidewall and a bottom wall defining an interior space with an open top end where a surface of the sidewall includes an indicator. A cover is attached to the top end of the base member and a designated amount of base compound is stored in the interior space of the base member. In use, the cover is removed from the base member and water is added into the interior space of the base member until a level of the water reaches the indicator.

Abstract:

A joint tape to be applied to wallboard is provided and includes a base substrate having opposing sides. In certain embodiments, a first adhesive layer is applied to one of the sides of the base substrate and a second adhesive layer is applied to the first adhesive layer, where the first adhesive layer is different than the second adhesive layer. In certain other embodiments, two different adhesives are used in a single adhesive layer. In use, the joint tape is positioned over and removably secured to a joint or corner between adjacent wallboard panels using the first adhesive layer. After the joint tape is in position, joint compound is applied to the joint tape, and the water in the joint tape activates it to form a secure bond with the wallboard panels.

Abstract:

This invention provides flexible adhesive compositions which can be used instead of joint reinforcement tape for securing a joint seam between abutting panels. Methods using the compositions are provided as well.
