Abstract:

A plurality of acoustical transducers such as microphones are placed in appropriate array so that they are capable of detecting sonic energy emanating from an acoustical source such as an aircraft or a ground vehicle. The outputs of the transducers are sequentially sampled and multiplexed together, the time multiplexed signals then being converted from analog to digital form in an analog/digital converter. The output of the analog/digital converter is fed to a fast Fourier transformer (FFT), which transforms these signals to Fourier transform coefficients represented as real and imaginary (cosine and sine) components. The output of the fast Fourier transformer is fed to a digital processor. In this processor, the power and phase of each frequency bin for each microphone output is determined and the phase differences between signals received by pairs of microphones for each frequency bin of interest are determined. Each of these phase difference signals is divided by the frequency of their associated bin to provide a "phase difference slope" for each frequency bin and for each microphone pair.

The liquid repellent surface (e.g. layer) may comprise a porous layer and a lubricant impregnated into pores of the porous layer; a fluoropolymer; a fluorochemical material and an organic polymeric binder; or a fluorochemical material melt additive and a thermoplastic polymeric material component. The component is typically a liquid reservoir, a liquid reservoir liner, a lid for a liquid reservoir or liner, or a combination thereof. In some embodiments, the component comprises a thermoplastic polymeric material. In some favored embodiments, the component is a removable liquid reservoir or liner. In some favored embodiments, the component is a collapsible liquid reservoir or liner. The spray application system typically further comprises a gravity-fed spray gun. Also described are spray application systems, methods of using a spray application system, as well as methods of making a component of a spray application system wherein the component has a liquid repellent surface.

Abstract:

Multilayer constructions are provided, for instance including a barrier layer, a sealing layer, and a polymer layer. The barrier layer has a major surface on which the sealing layer is disposed, and the sealing layer includes crosslinked silsesquioxane. The polymer layer includes a crosslinked polymer, and is disposed adjacent to a major surface of the barrier layer opposite from the sealing layer. The multilayer construction may further include additional layers, such as a substrate. Devices are also provided including the multilayer constructions.

Abstract:

A fluid control film is provided that includes fluid control channels extending along a channel longitudinal axis. Each of the fluid control channels has a surface and is configured to allow capillary movement of liquid in the channels. The fluid control film further includes a hydrophilic surface treatment covalently bonded to at least a portion of the surface of the fluid control channels. The fluid control film exhibits a capillary rise percent recovery of at least ten percent. Typically, the hydrophilic surface treatment includes functional groups selected from a non-zwitterionic sulfonate, a non-zwitterionic carboxylate, a zwitterionic sulfonate, a zwitterionic carboxylate, a zwitterionic phosphate, a zwitterionic phosphonic acid, and/or a zwitterionic phosphonate. A process for forming a fluid control film is also provided. Further, a process for cleaning a structured surface is provided, including providing a structured surface and a hydrophilic surface treatment covalently bonded to at least a portion of the structured surface, and soiling the structured surface with a material. The process also includes removing the material by at least one of submerging the structured surface in an aqueous fluid, rinsing the structured surface with an aqueous fluid, condensing an aqueous fluid on the structure surface, or wiping the structured surface with a cleaning implement.
