Abstract:

An eyeglasses includes a pair of lenses, a bridging member, a pair of temples with hook ends that have pivotal end sections, and a pair of coupling units interconnecting the lenses and the temples. Each of the coupling units is in the form of a bent wire, and has a coil-shaped end defining a chamber and a bend portion extending from the coil-shaped end. The pivotal end sections of the hook ends of the temples are received in the pivotal chambers in the coil-shaped ends of the coupling units so as to be turnable relative to the coil-shaped ends between extended and retracted positions.

Abstract:

An auxiliary eyeglass is mounted frontwardly on a primary eyeglass having a primary bridge interconnecting two primary lenses. The auxiliary eyeglass includes two auxiliary lenses disposed frontwardly of and aligned with the primary lenses respectively. A coupling unit includes a hook member hooked on the primary bridge, a first threaded unit extending in a transverse direction relative to the primary bridge and the hook member and selectively connected to one of the hook member and the auxiliary lenses, and a mounting unit selectively connected to the other one of the hook member and the auxiliary lenses with the first threaded unit extending through the mounting unit. A second threaded unit is mounted threadedly on the first threaded unit and adjustably abuts against two opposite sides of the mounting unit so as to permit adjustment and positioning of the auxiliary lenses relative to the primary lenses.

A method for generating a head related transfer function comprises downconverting each of a plurality of measured impulse responses from a first sampling frequency to a second sampling frequency and then converting each downconverted impulse responses to a set of head related transfer functions. Coordinate conversion can then be performed on each set of head related transfer functions. The converted sets of head related transfer functions are then averaged to generate one average head related transfer function. The average head related transfer function can be decimated to fit a filter engine of a target system.

A dynamic slope compensation filter (DSCF) provides dynamic gain slope modification for an optical amplifier. The optical amplifier provides amplification for a plurality of wavelengths within an amplification band. The filter includes an optical waveguide core, an optical waveguide cladding and an optical waveguide overcladding. The optical waveguide core guides a plurality of wavelengths. The core has a core refractive index and includes at least one coupler that functions to couple at least a portion of the plurality of wavelengths from the core to the cladding. The optical waveguide cladding surrounds the core and has a cladding refractive index that is less than the core refractive index. The optical waveguide overcladding surrounds at least a portion of the cladding and has a variable overcladding refractive index that is adjustable within a range that is less than and greater than the cladding refractive index. At least one of a trailing edge and a leading edge of a filter loss peak of the filter covers substantially all of the amplification band.

Abstract:

A smart game controller faceplate is disclosed that has a graphic on its front representative of a computer or video game with which it is used. The faceplate connects electronically to a game controller when the faceplate is removably and replaceably attached to the game controller. The face plate has graphic on the front of it that is representative of the game. The face plate communicates electronically with the game controller. This electronic communication modifies the playing of the game. When the electronic communication is enabled by a chip, the chip has software coding that enhances the performance of the game of which the graphic on the front is representative. Abstract:

Surface-active, non-leaching antimicrobial film forming compositions and methods for their application to preferably medical device surfaces are provided. The compositions form durable coatings with long-lasting antimicrobial efficacy without formation of a zone of inhibition. Optionally the films can be hydrophilic. Specific long-chain molecules of certain chemical reactivity are covalently bonded into a polymeric matrix. They maintain a long-term anti-microbial efficacy without being leached out into the aqueous environment. The polymeric matrix of the compositions contain functional groups, which covalently bond to an amine, thiol, carboxyl, aldehyde or hydroxyl active group of selected long chain quaternary ammonium compounds. Upon formation of a covalent bonding with the polymeric matrix the long chain compounds become immobilized but still maintain antimicrobial efficacy. They do not leach out over extended period of time into the aqueous environment and maintain an anti-microbial efficacy against microorganisms. The coating is useful to prevent bacterial colonization on a variety of surface including surfaces of medical devices.
