Abstract:

A bidirectional digital data communication system which generate phase coherent upstream clock and carrier signals from recovered downstream clock generated from a master clock in a central unit. The preferred species uses any downstream clock rate and generates a phase coherent upstream clock so long as the two clock rates can be related by the ratio M/N where M and N are integers. One embodiment uses an MCNS downstream and an SCDMA upstream and uses MNCN timestamp messages in the downstream to achieve an estimate of RU frame offset prior to establishing frame alignment using a ranging process. The use of timestamp messages to estimate the offset is aided by a low jitter method for inserting timestamp messages by avoiding straddling of MPEG packet headers with the sync message. Clock slip is detected by counting upstream clock cycles over a predetermined downstream clock interval and the RU transmitter is shut down if slip is detected to prevent ISI interference from misaligned codes. An SCDMA transmitter for the minislot environment of 802.

Abstract:

In a method and system for matching content between content sources, a first set of metadata describing a first content item is compared to a second set of metadata describing a second content item. Based on the comparing, an accuracy score is generated. The accuracy score indicates an amount of similarity between the first set of metadata and the second set of metadata. The accuracy score is compared to a predetermined accuracy threshold value. Based on the accuracy score being greater than or equal to the predetermined accuracy threshold value, a determination is made that the first content item and the second content item are a match. Based on the accuracy score being less than the predetermined accuracy threshold value, a determination is made that the first content item and the second content item are not a match.

A method and system for retrieving subscription information associated with a content file are provided. The method, according to an example embodiment, includes automatically generating a hash of the content file and retrieving an identifier for the subscription from a peer machine participating in a distributed hash table network. Methods for creation of a content association system in which a client application communicates to a distributed hash table network an association between one piece of content in a client's library and one other piece of content in the client's library are described. The client creates a hash for a first file in the library and a reference to a second file in the library. The client stores the reference to the second file in the distributed hash table at a node corresponding to the hash. To discover files associated with a file in a peer's library, the peer creates a hash for a file in its library and retrieves references to other files from the distributed hash table.

In a method and system for facilitating peer-to-peer networking, a download set identifying content being downloaded by a client program is transmitted to a network device. In response to an offline event indicating that the client program is no longer downloading the content over a network, an online event indicating the client program is resuming the downloading of the content is transmitted to the network device. Downloading of the content identified by the download set is completed by synchronizing the client program with the network device.

Abstract:

Minerals, in particular coal, that have been deposited in layers or along seams in the earth can be mined utilizing a large diameter bore hole drilling equipment. With the drilling equipment stationed on the surface of the earth, a drilling member is drilled down into the earth along the seam of the mineral deposit. If the mineral deposit extends at an angle to the earth, i. e. less than 90. degree. , the drilling operation is conducted so as to drill at a similar angle to the earth. As the mineral deposits are broken up during the drilling operation, the broken fragments are removed from the drilled hole. After drilling has occurred for a certain distance in a forward direction, a creeping effect is induced in portions of the side walls of the drilled hole. The drilling member is then retracted from the drilled hole in such a manner so as to drill out any mineral fragments in the hole of the drilling member. These mineral fragments are then removed from the hole as the drilling member is retracted.
