The ‘IP Diagnostics’ software is a new and innovative method of aiding the deployment and troubleshooting of IP enabled POS terminals. Its purpose is to identify where a failure in the IP connection is occurring. The IP Diagnostics application does this by testing major failure points within the IP chain from the POS terminal to the host.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus is provided for secure terminals that facilitate secure data transmission and are compliant with the payment card industry (PCI) data security requirements. A security processor is combined with an application processor and a display into a secure display control unit (SDCU) that provides tamper resistance and other security measures. Modular secure I/O devices are interfaced to the SDCU via a wired, or wireless, medium so as to facilitate secure data transfer to the SDCU during a point-of-sale (POS) transaction or other transaction that requires secure data entry. The secure I/O devices implement one-time-pad (OTP) encryption, where the random keys, or pads, are generated by a derived unique key per transaction (DUKPT) generator. Other embodiments facilitate interconnection of the secure I/O devices to a hardware security module (HSM) or a personal computer (PC) while maintaining a high level of data security.

Abstract:
This is for a payment device that may be constructed from separate modules in a secure fashion such that the aggregation of the modules constitutes an overall secure device without the use of additional covers, cases, or tamper-resistant housings. The methods and system are provided whereby the devices within a modular payment system can exchange data between each-other in a secure fashion. While data encryption is being used elsewhere, the present invention extends the security zone from each secure payment module within a modular device out over the cable to the next device. This allows the user to purchase payment device components, place them as they see fit, and not have to obtain certification on their end product as a POS-A level payment device.

Abstract:
A secure terminal, such as one used for point-of-sale debit card transactions, has a secure enclosure containing some or all of the terminal components, and is configured to send sensitive and non-sensitive data to a display located outside of the secure enclosure. The terminal includes a source chip that protects data sent from the terminal to the display. The source chip protects the data by detecting that the display is connected, authenticating the display as a device that is authorized to receive the data, and encrypting the data before transmission. Preferably, the display is a commercially-available consumer electronic device, such as a television or computer monitor. The source chip communicates with a receiver chip on the display to perform the detection, authentication, and encryption methods of the invention.

Sir Terry Wogan: tributes to BBC broadcaster dead aged 77 - latest updates
The stories became a regular feature on the show, and got progressively more smutty (but still broadcastable) as the years went by. Paul Walters, Terrys late producer, had the idea of recording the stories live and putting them onto CD to sell for Children in Need.

Pace of storm recovery in NY, NJ leave some 'frustrated, emotionally drained'
In Baldwin Harbor, on New York's Long Island, Paul Walters used a flashlight to survey the storm debris pulled from his home and those of his neighbors: Damaged mattresses, boxes of books and papers and destroyed floor lamps.
Paul Walters heads Walters Forensic Engineering, a Toronto-based firm specializing in structural failures. In an interview with CBC News, Walters pointed to water and salt rusting the reinforcing steel skeleton inside the garage as likely the primary culprit in its failure.
