Method And Apparatus For Providing Optical Internetworking To Wide Area Networks, Metropolitan Area Networks, And Local Area Networks Using Modular Components

International Classification:

US Classification:

Abstract:
An arrangement providing optical internetwork to Wide Area Networks (WAN), Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN), and/or Local Area Networks (LAN) as a peripheral device using modular components. WANs can be defined to include wireless, SONET/SDH, or DWDM networks for long haul applications. MANs can be defined to include wireless, Synchronous Optical Network (SONET)/Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), or Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) networks for Metro applications. The exemplary apparatus comprises of a printed circuit board (PCB) with a Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) connector, which provides the interface to a WEB, DataBase (DB), General-Purpose (GP) server, workstation, or PC. The SCSI Optical Device (SOD) provides gateway functionality to WAN, MAN, or LAN. SOD's processing is accomplished by one, two, or four processors depending on the OC rate of the optical (fiber) connection. Buffering of data is done by RAM memory located on the circuit board. The data is transmitted on the fiber using standard WAN or MAN protocols. The fiber connection is accomplished through a Network Interface Component (NIC) that consist of an eight way multiplex optical connector to the fiber and a standard Bus connector that interfaces to the circuit board. The NIC is removable and has eight optical frequencies. The SOD also has two slots for Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) cards. The first PCMCIA card is required and provides software/firmware instructions for execution by the gateway processor(s). Without the first PCMCIA card, the SOD will not function. The second PCMCIA card is optional and provides an interface to perform field diagnostics and/or network management for trouble analysis via a LAN or TTY port.
Method And Apparatus For Real Time Storage Of Data Networking Bit Streams
A method and arrangement for providing buffering and real time storage of high-speed data stream from internetwork of Wide Area Networks (WAN), Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN), and/or Local Area Networks (LAN) is disclosed. The exemplary apparatus comprises one or more parallel bus interfaces from Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLD) to buffer memory. The network data stream is directed through the CPLD where data compression takes place. The compressed data is stored (buffered) in memory buffers. Each memory buffer is associated with a hard disk drive via a PCI-X bus I/O controller. When the memory buffer is filled, input from the data network is directed to another RDRAM memory buffer. The content of each filled memory buffer is written to the hard disk drive associated with that buffer.

Abstract:
An arrangement providing an internetwork identification in response to a broadcast message from a LAN client wherein the broadcast message comprises the LAN client's LAN address. The exemplary apparatus comprises a receiver for receiving a message from the LAN and a translator coupled to the receiver for providing a translation of the LAN address to an internetwork identification responsive to determining that the received message is a broadcast message request for internetwork identification. The translator comprises a first device for determining that the received message comprises a broadcast message request for an internetwork identification and a second device coupled to the first device and responsive thereto for receiving the LAN address and providing the internetwork identification. The second device may comprise a disk system or other writable, nonvolatile electronic device.

Abstract:
A source code monitor and method is provided having an interface for monitoring the execution of a source coded computer program by a processor. The monitor provides for nonintrusively detecting the actions taken by the processor while executing the source coded program, and determining during execution of the source program by the processor if there is a match between the actions as detected and an associated part of the source code. A display is provided for an indication of the actions performed and, if there is a match, an indication of the associated part of the source code. If there is not a match, an indication that there is not a match is provided. The interface circuit monitors signals on the target processor address bus, data bus and control bus. A code coverage analyzer box connects these signals to a code representing the process or action taken during each transition cycle and a local, or remote network connected, code coverage analysis server compares the action to a set of possible actions which can be taken by the processor with the associated set of symbols representative of the different parts of the user code.

That leads me to Denny Hamlin ($10,700) and Joey Logano ($9600) as contrarian dominator options. Hamlins pit crew is blazing fast, while Logano and Paul Wolfe are always capable of trying out an alternate strategy.

Brad Keselowski signs contract extension with Team Penske
In addition to Keselowski agreeing to a new contract, crew chief Paul Wolfe also signed an extension. Wolfe has guided Keselowskis No. 2 team since 2011 and has been Keselowskis crew chief for each of his 22 wins with Penske. The two are considered among NASCARs best driver-crew chief pairings.
Even with crew chief Paul Wolfe missing Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 to be with his wife for the birth of their second child, substitute pit boss Brian Wilson took up the beat of a different drummer.
