Chastain Montgomery had faced the death penalty if convicted in the deaths of Paula Robinson and Judy Spray during an October 2010 robbery of the post office in Henning, 45 miles northeast of Memphis.
Authorities had posted a $50,000 reward and never suggested a motive in the deaths of postal workers Paula Robinson, 33, and Judy Spray, 59. In November, relatives of the victims pleaded with those living around the small town of Henning for help in solving the case.
Sources said while in custody for charges relating to his son's case that he confessed to the Henning post office shootings. 33-year old Paula Robinson and 58-year old Judy Spray were both killed. "A lot of people feel a little bit better that maybe there's a name, at least that they can look at,"
