In accordance with the present invention, a set of golf club heads is disclosed. The set includes golf club heads with peripheral weights. The dimensions and configuration of at least the peripheral weights are changed from club-to-club along the set so that the center of gravity rises from the long irons to the short irons. By raising the center of gravity from the long irons to the short irons, a golfer will see a peak trajectory height along a line for each club head that is substantially more consistent along that line throughout the set than prior art clubs provide.

Abstract:
A golf club head, wherein the head comprises a front striking face, a back plate, a toe wall, a heel wall, and a sole plate, configured to form an interior cavity; a hosel and a bore for receiving a shaft; at least one chamber formed inside the interior cavity by a plurality of wall members and one of the front striking face, back plate, toe wall, heel wall, and sole plate; a weight member disposed within the chamber; and a filler material juxtaposed the weight member and the wall members forming the cavity such that the weight member is isolated from the wall members and is securely held within the chamber.
Golf Club Heads With Back Cavity Inserts And Weighting
Golf club heads and sets of golf club heads are provided with a thin front face for striking a golf ball and a peripheral weighting surrounding the back of the front face and defining a cavity. An insert is formed in the cavity behind at least a portion of the front face. The golf club heads may also include a weight member which is locked onto the club head by the insert.
An iron style golf club head comprising a substantially perimeter weighted club head, including the interposing of three inserts, a striking face insert, a dampening insert and a back insert. The dampening insert, preferably made of a lead alloy, is interposed between the other inserts, and provides for changes in club swing weight while also providing relief for vibration and acoustical variations. The striking face insert is preferably made from a stainless steel alloy and the back inset is preferably made from a carbon graphite. The dampening insert is maneuvered into varied positions to effect a change in the specific gravity of each club head of a golf club set.
