Abstract:

A locking mechanism () for use with a pneumatic cylinder/differential engine for a power-operated door including a locking rod (), a plunger () associated with the locking rod () to cause extension and retraction of the locking rod () with respect to a door opening/closing gear (), and a spring member () associated with the plunger () for maintaining the plunger () and the locking rod () in an extended position during a door closed position. An aperture () is located through a sidewall portion of the gear hub () which is capable of receiving an end () of the locking rod () when the locking rod is in an extended position to lock the door in a door closed position. The invention also includes an emergency door opening mechanism enabling manual opening of the doors in case of an emergency.

A multi-part drive shaft for a transit vehicle door comprises an upper drive shaft connected to a door operating mechanism and having a door panel operating arm extending therefrom, a lower drive shaft journaled for rotation, a door panel operating arm extending therefrom and a flexible drive shaft secured at one end to the upper drive shaft and at the other end to the lower drive shaft. Abstract:

A system with a base may be mounted on a vehicle, and a carriage assembly that may be movably connected to the base and may move with respect to the base. The carriage assembly may include a motor including a motor output shaft and motor housing, and a driving mechanism may couple to a door and to the motor output shaft or the motor housing. The carriage assembly may also include a coordination bar may be coupled to the motor output shaft or the motor housing, the motor output shaft or the motor housing may rotate the coordination bar responsive to operation of the motor. At least one linkage assembly may extend or retract to move the carriage assembly to move the door between an open position and a closed position based on rotation of the coordination bar.
