Abstract:

An interactive audio-visual (A/V) transceiver is advantageously coupled to a television and/or telephone (T/T) cable, a TV, a video recorder (VCR), and other A/V devices. The A/V transceiver switches data between a program/service provider and the connected A/V devices. In one embodiment, the transceiver includes three primary modules, a main module including a CPU, a system bus, system memory, an infra-red (IR) control unit, an audio-visual bus, an A/V decoder, an A/V processor, and an A/V encoder, an A/V connect module including a number of tuner/demodulators and a switch, and an optional CD ROM module. The A/V transceiver hardware is complemented with an operating system and software program which supports the functions provided in the A/V user interface. Additionally, a remote control device is provided to communicate with the A/V transceiver to interactively manage selection of program and service sources, selection program and service offerings from any selected source, viewing of selected program offerings, and interaction with selected service offerings. The remote control device is advantageously provided with a basic A/V control button group, an interactive control button group, an auxiliary control button group and a numeric key pad to facilitate control of the transceiver.

The present invention relates to the use of a 2,3-dihydroxyterephthalamide of the structure (I): ) ##STR1## wherein A is selected from hydrogen or an organic linking group Y attached to a solid substrate Q, R. sub. 1 is independently selected from alkyl having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or aryl having from 6 to 14 carbon atoms, and R. sub. 2 is selected from R. sub. 1 or an organic linking group Z bonded to a solid substrate, with the proviso that structure (I) has only one linking group selected from Y or Z to a solid substrate Q, as selective chelating or sequestering to remove at least one metal ion from aqueous solution. These dihydroxy compounds are useful to remove metal ions (e. g. , Fe. sup. +3, from industrial waste water, human or mammalian blood or plasma, and the like.

Abstract:

Systems and methods for controlling an edge computing device. The method includes, receiving a user input requesting access to a resource of the edge computing device, determining whether the user has privileges to access the resource by: formulating a claims request which requests claims based on the determined identity of the user, sending the claims request to a local claims provider agent executed by a processor of the edge computing device, determining, based on claim request handling factors, whether the local claims provider agent can generate a token including the requested claims, and if so, generating the token with the requested claims; if not, a request may be sent to a cloud service-side claims provider to receive the token. The method includes authorizing access to the resource based on a predetermined policy that specifies the presence of a predefined resource parameter in the requested claims is sufficient.

Abstract:

Techniques allow DevOps personnel to perform incident management for cloud computing environments in a manner that maintains control over restricted data and the data plane. The DevOps personnel do not have access to restricted data or the ability to modify the cloud computing environment to gain access to restricted data. The incident management techniques include executing automatic operations to resolve an incident and allowing DevOps personnel to execute remote operations without providing the DevOps personnel access. A further incident management technique provides DevOps personnel with just-in-time (JIT) access that is limited to a certain level or type of access and limited in time. Still another technique for incident management is using an escort model, in which an escort session between operating personnel and DevOps personnel is established and connected to the cloud computing environment to allow the DevOps personnel access to the production environment while escorted by the operating personnel.
