A black light display device is provided which utilizes a black light source in combination with fluorescent/phosphorescent display elements which can be thread, strings, monofilaments, disks or sculptured material. The display elements are formed about a spindle which is secure by fixed in a housing which houses the black light source and the fluorescent/phosphorescent elements. One form of housing comprises selectively removable transparent barrier which is transparent to the visible light radiating from the fluorescent display elements but opaque to the ultraviolet light radiating from the black light illumination source.
A portable kaleidoscope device for viewing kaleidoscopic images of at least one imaging object is provided with a viewing assembly for viewing the imaging object, a fill chamber assembly, a main body connecting said viewing assembly to said fill chamber assembly, and illumination source or black light-generating illumination source disposed in the device for illuminating the imaging object with light of a selected wavelength.
A levitated finned ball device includes a ball made of a lightweight material and a base that generates laminar air flow to levitate the ball in mid-air. The ball has at least one generally semi-circular shaped fin extending therefrom. When the laminar air flow strikes the fin, it imparts motion to the ball.

Abstract:
A decorative optical display (20) utilizing a reflective diffraction grating (94) or a transmissive diffraction grating (304) and a plurality of polychromatic light sources (60) disposed around perimeter (106) of the reflective diffraction grating or perimeter (314) of the transmissive diffraction grating. The light sources are disposed so as to the illuminate the reflective or transmissive diffraction grating at an oblique angle (204) or (328), respectively. The oblique illumination of the reflective or transmissive diffraction grating prevents a viewer (200) from seeing undiffracted light rays (212) or (336) emanating from the light sources, which can detract from the appeal of the optical display pattern (250). The reflective or transmissive diffraction grating may be flat or curved and may be supported by a support member (90). Further, the reflective or transmissive diffraction grating may have either a single or multiple axes.
A drawing tool comprises a pair of transparent screens each defining a drawing surface on the underside thereof. A powderized etching composition is contained in a closed and sealed chamber beneath each drawing surface to fully coat the surface upon shaking of the drawing tool. An operator-controlled joy stick can be manipulated universally to simultaneously move drawing points along the drawing surfaces to scribe nearly identical two-dimensional designs thereon. An optical viewer mounted upon the screens enables the operator to stereoscopically view the individual images created by the designs as a three-dimensional image.
