Abstract:

A side shiftable railway car in which the bolsters resting on the wheeled trucks engage a movable center plate on the underside of the car. The center plate may be slid sideways along retaining flanges welded to the underside of the car and locked in place by heavy keeper pins adapted to be inserted and extracted manually with levers.

Abstract:

A schnabel-type railroad car adapted to carry very large loads incorporating articulated end units having a massive hinge at a reduced pivot location so that the weight of the car can be carried at a central location on the trucks while still pivoting about a lesser radius to help negotiate tight turns. Special hydraulic systems permit the car to be raised and lowered and also shifted laterally to provide additional roadbed clearance.

Abstract:

Calibration method for volumetric blending especially adapted to calibrate the volumetric blending equipment according to the movement of the dispensing mechanism relative to the volumetric units dispensed. The method broadly includes the steps of initiating the movement of a dispensing mechanism, counting a predetermined number of volumetric units as the dispensing mechanism moves, measuring and recording the quantity of the ingredient dispensed for predetermined unit count of said dispensing mechanism and then calculating a calibration ratio of ingredient quantity to movement of the dispensing mechanism. The calibration ratio remains constant for the ingredient dispensed and regardless of the speed of the dispensing mechanism.
