Abstract:

Embodiments of the disclosure enable a computing system to enhance one or more financial transactions. The computing system identifies a cardholder account used to enter into a financial transaction, identifies a merchant and/or a primary product associated with the financial transaction, analyzes cardholder data associated with the cardholder account and account data associated with the merchant and/or the primary product to determine a secondary product, generate presentation data for presenting product information associated with the secondary product, and receive selection data associated with the secondary product such that the financial transaction is enhanced with the secondary product. Aspects of the disclosure provide for enhancing the financial transaction with a secondary product tailored to the cardholder, provided or promoted by the merchant, and/or useable with the primary product in a constructive, complementary, and/or effective manner.

Abstract:

A method for generating a list of recommended merchants based on an input merchant is provided. The method uses a recommender computing device. The method includes receiving an input merchant identifier, retrieving a first electronic data signal based on the input merchant identifier including historical transaction data of the input merchant including historical payment transactions initiated by candidate cardholders with the input merchant, and storing a list of the candidate cardholders. The method further includes retrieving a second electronic data signal that includes historical transaction data for at least some of the candidate cardholders included in the list of candidate cardholders and a candidate merchant identifier that identifies the candidate merchants, generating a list of candidate merchants from the second data signal including a ranking of the candidate merchants, and generating a list of recommended merchants based on the list of candidate merchants.

Abstract:

A method and a system are provided determining affiliation of foreign payment card holders (e.g., students) with domestic educational institutions (e.g., universities and colleges). In particular, the present disclosure provides a method and a system for assessing the relative degree of proximity of the residential geolocation of the foreign payment card holders and the geolocation of the domestic educational institutions to facilitate determining whether the foreign payment card holders are affiliated with the domestic educational institutions, and also for assessing purchasing and payment behavior of the foreign payment card holders at domestic merchants. Predictive behavioral profiles are generated based on the purchasing and payment activities and shopping patterns of the foreign payment card holders by date at the domestic merchants, and the relative degree of proximity of the residential geolocation of the foreign payment card holders with the geolocation of the domestic educational institutions.

Abstract:

A method for imposing spending limits includes: storing data related to a payment account; receiving a spending limit request from a consumer associated with the account, the request including a spending target and spending category; generating a budget including a starting spending limit and two or more periods of time; applying, to the account, a spending limit, such that a value of transactions funded by the account during a first period of time and related to the spending category cannot exceed the applied spending limit, wherein the applied spending limit is the starting spending limit; decreasing the applied spending limit after the first period of time, such that transactions funded by the account during a second period of time cannot exceed the decreased applied spending limit; and repeating the decreasing step until the applied spending limit is equal to the spending target.
