Abstract:
A system and method for assessing a functional or medical ability of an actor in a environment. The method includes providing a plurality of data sources in the environment. One or more of the data sources are designated as providing information relating to a functional or medical ability. Data from the designated data sources is retrieved and forms the basis of a functional or medical ability evaluation. In one embodiment, a plurality of baseline function categories are established, with information from one or more of the data sources being assigned to at least one of the baseline function categories.

Abstract:
A system for augmenting security sensor accuracy and reduction of false alarm signals. The system includes the security sensor system along with an external sensor system for measuring the effect of environmental conditions on the security sensors and further includes a sensor data augmentation component to adjust the sensitivity of the security sensors according to measured environmental conditions. Weather sensors and video sensors are two preferred external sensor systems.
A video-enabled rapid response system and method that integrates identification technology and tracking technology in order to rapidly alert the most appropriate person to an incident. Such an approach includes a strong identification mechanism to get a positive identification on a person and a weak identification mechanism to maintain location information for the person moving in a facility. The system can rapidly determine the closest person with skills and or authority to respond when an incident occurs at a particular location and then pass an alert to them via a paging mechanism. The system combines strong and weak identification mechanism in order to provide accurate subject identification and tracking over the large facility.
Event Detection System Using Electronic Tracking Devices And Video Devices
An event detection system includes a processor, an electronic tracking device, and one or more transmitters. Each of the one or more transmitters can be configured to be associated with a particular individual of a group of individuals. The processor can be configured to cluster data from the one or more transmitters, and the processor can be configured to analyze the clustered data to determine one or more behavior patterns among the group of individuals. In an embodiment, video data can be combined with the electronic tracking device data in the event detection system.
A two way communication system that does not require the use of a device by one of the communicators. The system employs an audio spotlight to project a signal to a specific location, where one person is, and a laser audio receiver to receive the response. Both the audio spotlight and the laser audio receiver are directed by a user seeking to communicate with the person at long range.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for automatically focusing a camera that may rely upon ambient light for auto focusing and flash illumination for image capture. A correction factor may be determined that is based at least in part on a range between the camera and a desired subject. The camera focus may be adjusted in accordance with the correction factor prior to capturing a capture image using flash illumination.

Abstract:
A system for detecting abnormal eye movement in a subject to indicate possible impairment of the subject. The subject may be presented with a visual pattern to observe. The visual pattern may cause the subject's eyes to move. Images of the eye movements may be captured. An eye motion pattern may be computed from the images. The eye motion pattern may be classified relative to other eye motion patterns or a guide. The classification may indicate whether there appears to be an abnormal movement of the eye and thus an impairment of the subject. An identification of the subject may be obtained according to a biometric from the images and used to retrieve the subject's baseline eye motion pattern. A comparison of the computed eye motion pattern and the baseline eye motion pattern may indicate whether there is abnormal movement of the eye and thus an impairment of the subject.
A distributed agile illumination system and method associated with multiple coordinated illumination sources for projecting a large amount of illumination on a subject at a distance and with an eye safe level of illumination at a close range. An entire scene may be imaged via an image capturing device and a targeted subject with respect to the scene may be detected and prioritized. An initial calibration may be performed to determine a relative geometric location of the illumination sources and the image capturing device with respect to each other. The subject's predicted location and the geometric location may be employed to determine an offset position for each of the independent illumination sources. A pan/tilt device and optional mirror associated with each illumination source utilizes the offset position to point each illumination source towards the subject to acquire better imagery at varying subject distances.
