An optical system for the tracking or verification of items, having an energy source (e. g. , an illumination source), selectively producing a specific wavelength (or small set of wavelengths, such as a spectrum) of energy matched with a material sensitive to that illumination. When the material is subjected to the energy source, it emits a wavelength of energy which is then sensed by a detector.
Formulations Comprising Dehydrated Particles Of Pharma-Ceutical Agents And Process For Preparing The Same
A formulation for non-invasive delivery of pharmaceutical agents, particularly proteins and peptides, by absorption through a membrane at a targeted site is provided, along with a process of making the formulation. The formulation comprises a suspension of solid-phase dehydrated particles in a delivery medium. The particles comprise the dehydration product of the pharmaceutical agent and at least one of a surfactant and permeation enhancer, and the delivery medium preferably comprises a propellant for pressurized aerosol delivery of the formulation. The formulation can be conveniently delivered to the patients targeted site where the pharmaceutical agent is absorbed through the mucosa to achieve a desired bioavailability.
Formulation And System For Intra-Oral Delivery Of Pharmaceutical Agents
A stable formulation is disclosed that enables the effective intra-oral delivery to a patient of a pharmaceutical agent. The formulation comprises the pharmaceutical agent mixed with an orally-acceptable oral-absorption enhancer in an orally-acceptable carrier-solvent, wherein the oral-absorption enhancer is adapted to modify the surface membrane such that absorption through the surface membrane is initiated or increased. The oral-absorption enhancer may comprise hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin and surfactants including benzalkonium chloride, benzethonium chloride, polysorbate 80, sodium lauryl sulfate, Brij surfactants, Tween and Pluronic surfactants. Also disclosed is a system for delivering the formulation including a mechanism for dispensing predetermined doses of the inventive formulation intra-orally as with an aerosol or spray pump or propellant device.
Formulations For Administering Calcitonin And Processes For Preparing The Same
The present invention provides a non-invasive method for administering polypeptides across epithelial membranes. The formulations in the present invention comprise solid polypeptide particles mixed with a permeation enhancer and excipients which are dispersed in a media for oral or intranasal administration. Also provided in the present invention is a process to prepare the formulations.

Abstract:
In an improved method of etching apertures in a thin metal sheet to form a shadow mask for a color picture tube, the metal sheet has a first acid-resistant stencil on one major surface thereof and a second acid-resistant stencil on the other major surface thereof. At least one of the stencils has openings therein at locations of intended apertures. The improvement comprises the steps of magnetically holding the metal sheet with a flat magnetic assembly, and moving the magnetic assembly magnetically holding the metal sheet thereon through an etching chamber. The magnetic assembly includes a magnetic layer that is supported on an acid-resistant board.

US Classification:

Abstract:
Apparatus and a concomitant method for electrostatically depositing select doses of medicament powder at select locations on a substrate. Specifically, the apparatus contains a charged particle emitter for generating charged particles that charge a predefined region of a substrate and a charge accumulation control circuit for computing the amount of charge accumulated upon the substrate and deactivating the emitter when a selected quantity of charge has accumulated. Additionally, a triboelectric charging apparatus charges the medicament powder and forms a charged medicament cloud proximate the charged region of the substrate. The medicament particles within the medicament cloud electrostatically adhere to the charged region. The quantity of charge accumulated on the substrate at the predefined region and the charge-to-mass ratio of the medicament powder in the cloud control the amount (dose) of medicament deposited and retained by the substrate. Consequently, this apparatus accurately controls both medicament dosage and deposition location.

Abstract:
Digital binocular fusing apparatus places a primary image in registration with a lenticular lens to produce a secondary 3D image from the primary image. The apparatus includes a lens array, a display mounted behind the lens array and including a primary image and reference marks, a primary image orientation adjustment system for receiving registration adjustment signals to adjust the position of the primary image and the reference marks, a sensor to detect the position of the reference marks and generate position identification signals, and, a registration control for receiving the position identification signals, determining if the primary image is in registration with the lens array, and, if necessary, generating registration adjustment signals and transmitting the registration adjustment signals to the primary image orientation adjustment system.

Abstract:
A jig supports an array of cameras on a platform using a plurality of brackets among which one is immovably secured to the platform at a center of the array while the remainder is pivotally connected to the platform. A computer-implemented system creates an interlaced image. The system includes a trigger mechanism operatively coupled to the cameras to effect nearly simultaneous image capture. A focal target and a sizing reference are provided at a focal position of the lenses. A computer having a processor and a memory executes code that interlaces bands of images captured from each of the cameras, at nearly a single point in time, into an interlaced image and processes the sizing reference and adjusts a size of one or more of the captured images for inclusion in the interlaced image.
