Abstract:
A filter apparatus is used to filter tap water and to automatically fill two containers. This apparatus includes a filter subassembly, a housing subassembly, a water control subassembly, and first and second containers. The water control subassembly includes a center see-saw chute receiving filtered water from a supply line from the filter subassembly, and includes a left pivoted chute and a right pivoted chute, each receiving a selectively directed water stream from the center chute. Each pivoted chute has a float at one end thereof, in contact with the water in its respective container when about full. An upward force from its container water pivots each left and right chute, when the container is about full, causing the respective water stream to be redirected in the opposite direction along its chute to a reservoir and drain line. In a preferred embodiment, first chute has a cam surface, which bears against a surface on the center chute, thereby pivoting the center chute, and redirecting the water stream to the right chute.

Abstract:
A filtering device includes a head intended to be permanently installed in a fluid dispensing machine and a disposable canister therefor. A central chamber is formed in the head which chamber is in communication with an inlet port and an outlet port for receiving an unfiltered liquid and supplying a filtered liquid, respectively. The disposable canister has a flask shaped main body with a flat top and a neck of substantially uniform diameter on the top. The neck fits in the central chamber. A tube extending through the neck defines an annular clearance between the tube and the interior of the neck which annular clearance is in fluid communication with the inlet port. The opening into the tube located at the top of the neck is in fluid communication with the outlet port in the head. A pair of tab receptacle on the head and a complementary pair of tabs on the canister are engageable with one another by 1/4 rotation of the canister to lock the canister to the head.

Abstract:
The present invention sets forth an adapter for filter cartridges and a mating cartridge which provides sealing means between the cartridge and the adapter and sealing means between the adapter and a filter head to which it is to be installed, and means for installing the adapter on a cartridge and for installing the adapter in the filter head with an aligning and locking means that ensures that all parts are appropriately positioned for proper function and at the same time will prevent physical disengagement and/or a break in the flow path from the cartridge to the filter head when the cartridge and adapter are properly installed in the filter head.

Abstract:
A filter apparatus for a home reverse osmosis water system is provided. The apparatus has a head, which has a forward flow inlet port for connection to a reverse osmosis water unit, and which has a reverse flow outlet port for connection to a water service faucet. The apparatus also has a cartridge, which has a twist-on securing means for connection to the head, a filter assembly for filtering forward fluid flow and for filtering reverse fluid flow, and a combination inlet and outlet port for connection to a pressurized water tank. The filter assembly has a primary filter unit, which is disposed in a cartridge primary chamber, and a secondary filter unit, which is disposed in a cartridge secondary chamber, and a valve means, e. g. , check valve, which is disposed between the primary chamber and the secondary chamber, whereby forward fluid flow is permitted to flow through the primary filter unit and also through the secondary filter unit, and reverse fluid flow is only permitted to flow through the secondary filter unit. The foregoing apparatus enables permeate from a reverse osmosis module to pass through the filtration cartridge, first through the primary and then the secondary filter unit, and after storage of the filtrate therefrom, passing the stored filtrate through the secondary filter unit of the filtration cartridge in a reverse direction to the direction the permeate passed through the unit, to filter the water just prior to use.
