Whenever possible I volunteer at a local wildlife rehabilitation center- Possumwood Acres, located in Hubert,NC. This facility houses and rehabilitates birds of prey, waterfowl, possums, as well as owls and squirrels. In the past I have volunteered at a domestic animal rescue facility- Safe Harbor Farms, located in Maysville, NC. This facility houses and rehabilitates dogs and cats. I have enjoyed working with animals ever since partaking in an internship at Onslow Veterinary Hospital through my high school Allied Health course. Onslow Veterinary Hospital also trained me for a state HOSA competition in the Veterinary assisting division prior to my clinical rounds with the veterinary hospital. At Onslow Veterinary Hospital I gained experience assisting with spay and neuter procedures, sample collection, and animal restraint procedures in order to obtain samples.

Skills:

I currently work as a recreation attendant in Camp Lejeune, NC. As a recreation attendant I am responsible for attending to patron needs as well as fellow staff members needs. The visiting staff includes catering sales managers, servers, kitchen staff, and also off-base vendors. No two days are the same, and the staff is constantly rotated due to the high volume of military dependants that are hired. My day usually consists of setting up and breaking down tables and chairs. Sometimes this takes place outside in hot weather. I also dress tables in linens and skirts and follow floor plans or verbal directions when laying out a ballroom setup. Powerpoint marquee presentations are a large part of my job repsonsibilites as well.There is usually a new recreation attendant, cook, or server to assist with training and learning the basic duties involved with catering and event set up. Although I am not an actual server, I have filled in for food preparation and serving responsibilities when necessary.
