Abstract:

The present invention relates generally to nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques for both spectroscopy and imaging. More particularly, the present invention relates to methods in which hyperpolarized noble gases (e. g. , Xe and He) are used to enhance and improve NMR and MRI. Additionally, the hyperpolarized gas solutions of the invention are useful both in vitro and in vivo to study the dynamics or structure of a system. When used with biological systems, either in vivo or in vitro, it is within the scope of the invention to target the hyperpolarized gas and deliver it to specific regions within the system.

Abstract:

Disclosed are topical compositions, including methods of applying those compositions to absorb sweat and sebum from the skin, wherein the compositions comprise (A) fluid-absorbent solids having a Water Absorption Value of at least about 0. 5 grams/gram; (B) an adhesive fluid; and (C) a liquid carrier; herein the composition has an Average Wear Index Value of at least about 60%. The topical compositions provide effective delivery and deposition of the fluid-absorbent solid onto the skin from an extended wear composition.

An electro-optic system in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention comprises a high glass transition temperature (Tg≧about 210 C. ) polymer matrix featuring aromatic groups on the backbone repeating unit, which hosts a guest, high hyperpolarizability organic NLO chromophore.
