Before entering the Real Estate field, Rich started his career with the Federal Aviation Administration working on electronics for more then 10 years. While there, Rich became a leader for a union known as the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists. He spent five years as a President for both the states of Indiana and Illinois. He spent most of his time working and negotiating for members and lobbying members of Congress on behalf of the employee and aviation related bills.
