Abstract:

A valve assembly for dispensing fluids prone to forming solids such as liquid carbon dioxide and liquid chocolate includes a valve which is held in a normally off position by a spring-activated plunger assembly. The spring-activated plunger assembly is coupled to a lifting arm, activated by a solenoid to counteract the spring and to selectively open the valve to allow fluid to flow. When the solenoid is deactivated the spring forces the valve closed, and the force of the spring forces any solid build up away from the valve aperture and valve seat.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus are provided for controlling power hop in a Hotchkiss-type vehicle suspension having a live axle housing supported by a left and right suspension leaf spring, through the use of a pair of half-leaf springs adapted for operative attachment at a rear end thereof to the left and right terminal ends respectively of the axle housing, and a damping device adapted for operative attachment between a chassis of the vehicle and the rear axle housing. The half-leaf spring members extend longitudinally in a forward direction, below and generally in vertical alignment with their respectively associated suspension leaf spring, and are spaced therefrom, with the forward end of each half-spring member including a snubber for contacting a lower surface of the associated suspension leaf spring and terminating below and adjacent the forward end of its respectively associated suspension leaf spring.

Abstract:

A system and method for generating flame effects. The system includes an array of burner heads, each having an igniter configured to generate an ignition spark. The system also includes a reservoir of a high flash point liquid and a pump configured to draw the high flash point liquid from the reservoir and pump it to the array of burner heads under high pressure. A valve is arranged at each burner in the array of burner heads to control a flow of the high flash point liquid through each burner head. Also, a nozzle is arranged at each burner head to atomize the high flash point liquid before ignition. A sensor is arranged at each burner head to generate an ignition confirmation signal upon detecting the ignition spark at the igniter. Accordingly, a controller is configured to independently control each valve to restrict the flow of the high flash point liquid to the burner unless the ignition confirmation signal is received from the sensor monitoring the burner.

Abstract:

A flame cannon for producing an explosion, the cannon including a tank, an effect valve, a nozzle and an ignitor, the tank coupled to a carbon dioxide source and a propane source, the tank and sources used to pressurize liquid propane therein. The nozzle forms a substantially linear and non-atomizing channel. When the effect valve between the tank and nozzle is opened, the pressurized liquid propane is forced through the nozzle and forms a liquid propane column thereabove which begins to disburse into the atmosphere wherein it is ignited to form a mushroom-shaped explosion.

Abstract:

A low lying fog simulator including a liquid carbon dioxide source and a cooler to be used with a smoke generating machine. The liquid carbon dioxide is forced through an expansion valve to provide a cold carbon dioxide gas pocket through which the smoke passes prior to being dispersed into the ambient. When dispersed into the ambient the cold smoke/carbon dioxide mixture falls toward a level near the earth's surface simulating a low lying fog.
