Abstract:

A wagering system has a processor through which information regarding a plurality of competing contestants in a horse or dog race is made available to entities betting on the outcome of the race to seek a payout from a wagering pool. The information for at least one of the competing contestants is prepared based upon selected handicapping criteria to give the at least one of the competing contestants a time adjusted race identity. An input is provided for wagers to be placed on the race. The outcome of the race for wagering purposes is determined using the time adjusted race identity for the at least one of the competing contestants.

Abstract:

A means and method for modifying the width of a racing surface of a racetrack having a movable barrier positioned between a stationary outer barrier and a stationary inner barrier, the movable barrier comprising pylons having a removable tethering means connecting the movable barrier to the inner stationary barrier, and also having a limiting means to enable the user to place the movable pylons in generally the same position prior to the beginning of every race. During the course of the race, the user will move the movable pylons off of the racing surface, thus increasing the width of the racing surface available to the horse and driver. In another embodiment, an inner lane of approximately 8-10 feet exists to increase the width of the racing surface during the stretch portion of the race.

Abstract:

A wagering system having a wagering base with different information based upon the outcome of an event that has already taken place; a first input wagering terminal for directing input wagers to access certain of the different information; and a processor for determining whether an input wager accesses the certain information. Abstract:

A system for wagering during a wagering period having a wagering base with a first plurality of pools each with an outcome accessed by an input wager. A plurality of terminals is provided at which wagers are input, each directed to access an outcome in one of the pools. A processing system is configured to process the input wagers in a manner whereby each input wager either: a) accesses; or b) fails to access an outcome. The processing system is further configured so that there is an initial pre-assigned probability of accessing the outcome of each pool through an input wager. The processing system is further configured to identify a collective return by determining the number of input wagers that have accessed an outcome in a particular pool. The processing system is further configured to change the wagering base after the wagering period has begun and before the wagering period is concluded based upon one or more system operating parameters detected during the wagering period.

A method of, and system for, wagering. The method includes the step of providing a random number generator that has a wagering base that is derived at least in part from the outcome of at least one horse/dog race or jai alai game that has previously been completed. Certain information in the wagering base is based at least in part on the outcome of the at least one horse/dog race or jai alai game and is accessible through an input wager, with the probability of accessing the certain information in the wagering base through an input wager being different. Input wagers are directed to the random number generator during the wagering period from each of multiple locations. Between when preliminary and final return amounts are identified for a first input wager that accesses the certain information, based at least in part upon the number of input wagers that have accessed the certain information, an updated return amount is identified for the first input wager.

Abstract:

A wagering system having a processor operatively connected to a random number generator that has a wagering base with at least first and second different information that is each accessed by an input wager. The random number generator is configured so that a probability of accessing the first information through an input wager is higher than a probability of accessing the second information. The processor is programmed to identify: a) one return for an input wager that accesses the first information; and b) a second higher return for an input wager that accesses the second information. The processor is programmed to factor in a higher percentage commission for one of the first and second returns than a percentage commission for the one return.
