Abstract:

A device to enable people to play the sports game of step/curb ball at virtually any site (location). The unit is designed to be filled with water to impart mass, density and stability so that resilient (rubber, tennis, ect. ). Balls thrown (pitched) at it will be reflected onto the field of play at high velocities and long distances-creating a multitude of Baseball-like situations ranging from "strike-outs" to "grand-slam home runs". This portable set of steps will have a removable, netted backstop to prevent errantly-thrown and/or deflected balls from travelling behind the unit into foul territory. Retractable foul lines will emanate from the base unit, by means of spool mechanisms affixed to each of two (2) molded angular projections positioned at each front-side of the base unit just above ground level. When these foul lines are unwound from their spool mechanisms, they will automatically form the prescribed boundaries/dimensions of the Baseball-like playing field. The unit will also have pre-molded features such as handles to easily transport the game, port holes to conveniently enable the unit to be filled with and emptied of water, four feet composed of molded nubs to protect and further stabilize the base of the unit.

Abstract:

A device includes an image sensor, first optics, second optics, and a processor. The first optics are configured to form a first optical pattern (OP) on the image sensor. The first OP is associated with a first wavelength. The second optics are configured to form a second OP on the image sensor. The second OP is associated with a second wavelength that is longer than the first wavelength. The processor is configured to generate a first turbulence estimate based on relative motion of the first OP, to generate a second turbulence estimate based on relative motion of the second OP, and to generate error correction data. The processor is also configured to adjust the first turbulence estimate based on the error correction data and the second turbulence estimate to determine an estimated turbulence value. The processor may also be configured to estimate a wind profile, a turbulence profile, or both.

Abstract:

The aircraft includes a fuselage and at least one aerodynamic interface surface. It further includes a gimbaled mirror system which includes a mirror supported by a gimbal to receive a light beam from a light emitting source and reflect the light beam to a first periscope fold mirror. A wave front measuring system includes at least five reflective which reflects the light beam to a fast steering mirror. The fast steering mirror reflects the light beam directly to a beam splitter wherein the light beam is split into a transmitted portion and a reflected portion of the light beam.

Abstract:

An aero-optical disturbance measurement system includes a mirror supported by a gimbal for receiving a light beam from a light emitting source, reflecting the light beam to a first periscope fold mirror and therefrom reflecting the light beam directly to a second periscope fold mirror. A first concave off-axis paraboloid mirror receives the light beam reflected from second periscope fold mirror and therefrom a first fold mirror receives the light beam reflected directly from first concave off-axis paraboloid mirror. A second fold mirror receives the light beam reflected directly from the first fold mirror. A second concave off-axis paraboloid mirror receives the light beam reflected directly from second fold mirror which reflects the light beam to a fast steering mirror. A fine tracker camera coupled to an embedded processer receives portion of light beam from fast steering mirror. Embedded processor controls movement of fast steering mirror and gimbal.
