Abstract:

A sheath assembly for a medical instrument such as an endoscope comprises an outer sheath and inner sheath and novel means for providing out-flow of fluids from a surgical site. The outer sheath is disposed about at least a portion of an inner sheath. The assembly has an outflow aperture disposed in an outer wall at the distal end of the assembly. The outflow aperture is the initiation for an outflow conduit that is generally longitudinally disposed in a distal tip portion of the assembly and communicates fluid to a main outflow channel formed between the outer sheath and inner sheath. In a preferred embodiment, the outflow aperture and conduit are disposed wholly or partially in a dielectric tip element. The novel assembly allows improved outflow by disposing the outflow aperture at a more distal end of the instrument than conventional devices such that the outflow aperture is less prone to blockage by surrounding tissue or debris when used in tight anatomical passages.

Abstract:

A clothes hanger assembly is described with a hook, a support bar perpendicularly attached to the hook, a support bar with a first side and a second side, each side oppositely projecting downwardly, such that the downward projection of the first side and the second side form an arc-like projection, such that the arc-like projection has a gradual point of curvature where the first side and second side meet, the arc-like projection further having a significant point of curvature such that the end points of the first side and second side continue to rotate approximately ninety degrees from where the first side and second side meet; and a support bar having a diameter from 0.5″ to 3.0″.

Abstract:

An apparatus for dynamically filling a gap between a side of a railway train car and an adjacent edge of a station or loading platform for preventing accident or injury to passengers while boarding or alighting from the train. A plurality of flexible, flat planar sheet-like members project outwardly from a vertical platform edge surface that is confrontingly opposed to the side of a railway train car located adjacent to the platform. The extension of the projecting members from the platform is such that as an approaching train traveling along a track moves into proximity with the platform, the train contacts at least the free ends of the projecting members whereby the members are thereby resiliently deflected to assume a generally bent contour in the direction of train movement and thereby substantially fill the gap between the platform edge and the side of the train.

Abstract:

An endoscope with a working element and a sheath assembly. The sheath assembly has an outer sheath with an outer tube, and inner sheath with an inner tube and an insulating tip. An inflow channel is formed inside the inner tube. An outflow channel is formed between the inner and outer tubes. The insulating tip is connected to the front of the inner tube and has two holes; one for inflow and one for outflow. The top side of the inner tube has a flat shape to form an enlarged outflow channel area between the flat top side and the outer tube.

Abstract:

A continuous flow cystoscope is shown. The cystoscope includes an outer sheath having an outer surface, a hollowed out central area extending along a central axis which extends therethrough, a proximal section and a distal section. The distal section includes a distal end having a member defining an opening. In the preferred embodiment, the outer sheath opening is formed at an acute angle relative the central axis. The distal section of the outer sheath includes an elongated fenestra extending distally therefrom along a path substantially parallel to and spaced from the central axis. The proximal section of the outer sheath includes an inlet port and an outlet port. An inner member is positioned within the hollowed out central area of the outer sheath and includes an inner member channel having a first passageway which is adapted to receive a telescope and a second passageway which is utilized for passing a working tool, such as a laser fiber. The outer sheath and the inner member are spaced apart to form an outflow fluid passageway therebetween. The inner member includes a distal section which has an irrigation inlet and a distal end.

Abstract:

An automatic open and close umbrella, that has an umbrella canopy, a hollow shaft, a driven member which is driven by means of a threaded drive shaft and has at least one radial spline extending through an axial slot in the wall of the hollow shaft, and a handle located at the proximate end of the hollow shaft containing a drive motor which powers a threaded drive shaft to drive the driven member along the hollow shaft, incorporates a manual override mechanism to engage and disengage the drive motor to manually operate the driven member along the hollow shaft to open and close the umbrella.
