Abstract:
A wire untwisting tool includes a housing having a wire gripping end, an actuation end and a cavity. A plunger is received in the cavity. The plunger is movable between a retracted position and an actuated position and includes a gripping head movable with the plunger between the retracted position and the actuated position. The gripping head is configured to hold the twisted pair of wires in the retracted position, wherein rotation of the housing in an untwisting direction untwists the wires. Optionally, the wire may be fixedly held remote from the gripping end, and the housing may be rotated about the location at which the wire is fixedly held.

Abstract:
A crimping tool for crimping a terminal to a wire includes a tool head having a die assembly defining a crimping zone. The die assembly is configured to crimp the terminal to the wire in the crimping zone during a crimping operation. An actuator is coupled to the tool head and operatively coupled to the die assembly to actuate the die assembly during the crimping operation. A lighting assembly is coupled to the tool head. The lighting assembly illuminates the crimping zone.

Abstract:
A hand tool (10) is provided for crimping an electrical terminal onto a conductor. The tool includes a frame (12) having a fixed crimping tool (14) secured at one end and a movable crimping tool (16) arranged to slide along a linear path (20) within a guideway (48) in the frame (12) toward and away from the fixed crimping tool (14). A lever (18) is pivotally coupled to the movable crimping die (16) by a drive link (144) and three pivotal attachments (128, 146, 152). The drive link (144) includes a ratchet surface (188) in engagement with a pawl (196) pivotally attached to the lever (18) for compelling continued movement of the lever once a crimping operation has begun.

Abstract:
Feeding apparatus for feeding articles, such as electrical devices, from a tube magazine comprises a frame for supporting the tube with a first end of the tube adjacent to a delivery station. The articles are fed by a flexible feeding member which has a first feeding member and located, at the beginning of an operating cycle, adjacent to the second end of the tube. The feeding member extends away from the second end and then in the reverse direction back towards the first end of the tube. The feeding member is moved through the tube by an actuator which comprises a resilient flexible tape or band. The actuator has a coiled portion adjacent to the second tube end and an end portion which extends from the coiled portion towards the first tube end. The end portion is secured to the trailing end of the feeding member. When the end portion of the actuator is retracted towards the coiled portion, the feeder is moved along its length and its leading end moved through the tube magazine thereby to push the articles from the tube to the delivery station.

Abstract:
A hand-held crimping tool is disclosed having an air cylinder which retains thereto a head member, and has a moveable piston which is attached to a cam member. The cam member is receivable through the head member, and a crimping tool is fixed to the head member, whereby the cam member is cooperable with the crimping tool to move die surfaces towards one another for the crimping actuation of a wire terminal. The head member includes a pawl assembly, whereby the pawl member is cooperable with a ratchet surface provided on the cam member, whereby the cooperation of the ratchet and pawl determines the axial movement of the cam member relative to the head member, which also determines the crimping force exerted on the terminals to be crimped.

Abstract:
A tool for crimping a terminal to an end of an electrical conductor has a movable fulcrum which reduces hand force required to operate the crimping tool. The tool includes main body having a handle end and a first jaw disposed remote from the handle end. A second jaw is pivotally connected to the main body between the handle end and the first jaw. The a second jaw cooperates with the first jaw to perform the crimping as the second jaw is pivoted toward the first jaw. A movable handle is operably connected to the second jaw to pivot the second jaw toward the first jaw. A driver link has a first end pivotally connected to the main body, and a second end of the driver link has a slidable connection with the movable handle. The slidable connection includes a pivot pin which is slidable in a slot defined in the movable handle. As the movable handle is operated to pivot the second jaw toward the first jaw, the fulcrum is displaced relative to the movable handle between at least a first position and a second position, thereby modifying a distance between the fulcrum and the connection of the movable handle with the second jaw.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method through which a machine is enabled to feed a preloaded electrical connector (10) on appropriate spacings to allow the termination of individual wires (W) in terminals (13) in the connector through a novel indexing feed finger (120) which is capable of engaging surfaces (A-E) on the connector which are different relative to a constant indexing stroke. The indexing finger includes surfaces (126-132) capable of handling more than one set of dimensions of more than one style of connector without adjustment. The invention further includes a mechanism (180) for bending a scored portion of terminals to effect a later removal of the terminal carrier strips.
