Abstract:

Interaction between mating gas turbine combustor components due to vibrations and assembly tolerances can cause excessive wear and premature replacement. Typically, wear reduction features, such as hardened materials, are used to minimize the amount of wear or direct such wear to a specific component. The present invention discloses an improved wear reduction device for the interface between a gas turbine combustor transition duct end frame and the turbine inlet. The improved wear reduction device incorporates âL-shapedâ wear strip inserts, constructed of a hardened material, and fixed along the sidewalls of the end frame to protect it from wear by the mating turbine inlet seal. The improved wear strip insert provides a cost savings by not requiring costly manufacturing tooling to form the wear strip inserts, unlike previous wear reduction techniques for the same component interface.

Abstract:

Parasitic bacteria of the genus Bdellovibrio are utilized to control or eliminate undesirable bacteria in or on: certain foods for human consumption; or a food contact surface(s) (i. e. the Bdellovibrio attack and kill undesirable bacteria indigenous to the food or food contact surface(s)). A wide variety of pathogenic (e. g. Salmonella, Vibrio, Shigella, Escherichia, Campylobacter and Yersinia), and food spoilage bacteria (e. g. Pseudomonas, Aeromonas and Enterobacteriaceae) may be controlled or eliminated by parasitization by the Bdellovibrio bacteria.

Abstract:

An apparatus for providing improved cooling to a combustion liner of a gas turbine combustor is provided. A plurality of flow deflectors is secured to a flow sleeve in order to improve the flow of impingement air from a flow sleeve to the combustion liner outer surface, such that the amount of impingement air being swept away by a cross flow of cooling air is reduced.
