Abstract:

Disclosed herein are methods for reducing or preventing scar tissue formation by administering an antifibrotic amount of a fluoroquinolone. Also disclosed are means for inhibiting the activity of fibroblast cells, including their proliferation, metabolism, and invasion into tissue. The invention further contemplates methods and compositions for the delivery of a fluoroquinolone to prevent or treat scar tissue formation, including oral and intravenous delivery means.

Abstract:

A tool system for the repair of joint articular cartilage defects is disclosed. The tool system may include a non-trephine cutting tool, having a handle coupled to a movable support and a cutter section, coupled to the handle. The cutter section has a closed geometric peripheral shape sized to surround a lesion in cartilage of an articular joint. The cutter section also has a cutting edge that is sufficiently sharp to cut, by the application of force normal to the cutting edge, through cartilage surrounding a joint articular cartilage lesion from a repair site while having insubstantial effect on subchondral bone underlying the cartilage surrounding the joint articular cartilage lesion cartilage being cut, and a cartilage repair patch.

Abstract:

A suture fixation device and method thereof is provided. The suture fixation device includes a suture fiber having a length of about 24 to 40 inches and a plurality of knots spaced apart from each other along the length of the suture fiber. Each of the plurality of knots has an overall width of about 3.0 to 4.0 mm.
