Abstract:An apparatus and method for fastening and shortening loop type necklaces or chains using a fastener device having no moving parts which includes a fastener body formed to include first and second fastener curves and first and second fastener holding spaces. The fastener device operates to engage respective ends of a necklace and hold such ends in corresponding fastener holding spaces such that the fastener device balances the pull of each of the ends of the necklace.
