Abstract:A novel group of amine formal polymers of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen, --CH. sub. 2 R" or ##STR2## R' is hydrogen or --CH. sub. 2 R" and R" is hydrogen, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, n is 1 to 8, m is 0 to 8 and R, R', and R" may be the same or different. The polymers may be prepared by reacting bis(haloethyl)formals with ammonia or primary amines and/or monoalkanolamines in the presence of aqueous alkali. The products may be used as, e. g. , rust inhibitors, acid scavengers, antioxidants and epoxide and urethane curing catalysts. Certain of the polymers are especially useful as epoxide curing agents.
