Abstract:

A method and system for identifying components of a waveform. The system includes an ECG acquisition module, a pressure waveform acquisition module to acquire a pressure waveform, and an analysis module coupled to the ECG acquisition module and the pressure waveform acquisition module. A monitor or similar display device is coupled to the analysis module. The analysis module is operable to determine three peaks in the pressure waveform corresponding to âaâ, âcâ, and âvâ waves. Those âaâ, âcâ, or âvâ waves that are identified by the analysis module are displayed on a monitor or similar device such that they are distinguished from each other and the remainder of the displayed waveform. The method involves displaying a waveform; identifying a number of peaks in a number of intervals of the waveform, and modifying the displayed waveform such that the identified peaks are distinguished from each other and the rest of the pressure waveform.

Abstract:

A method and system of distinguishing physiological pulses as measured by pulmonary artery catheterization. The method includes positioning two measurement devices in blood vessels of a subject, one in a major systemic artery and one in the pulmonary artery, and measuring blood pressure in the blood vessel with the measuring device to generate a pressure waveform. A phase difference between the two pressure waveforms is determined and used to create a warning or to display the phase difference on a display. The system includes an analysis module that determines phase differences based on the inputs from two or more physiological sensing modules.

Abstract:

A system for processing ECG to detect atrial fibrillation includes three software modules. A beat module is executable on a processor to receive a time series of ECG data, identify heart beats, and determine a beat AFIB value based on a timing of each identified heart beat. The beat AFIB value represents a presence or absence of AFIB based on variability in the timing of each identified heart beat. A segment module is executable to receive the time series of ECG data, divide the time series of ECG data into two or more time segments, and determine a segment AFIB value for each time segment. The segment AFIB value indicates a presence or absence of AFIB in the time segment based on whether any of a set of rhythms are identified. The AFIB detection module is executable to determine an AFIB identification value for each time segment based on the beat AFIB value during that time segment and the segment AFIB value for that time segment.
