A method of determining calcium metabolism in a patient comprises the steps of administering radioactive calcium isotope Ca to the patient, allowing a period of time to elapse sufficient for dissemination and reaction of the radioactive calcium isotope Ca by the patient, obtaining a sample of the radioactive calcium isotope Ca from the patient, isolating the calcium content of the sample in a form suitable for precise measurement of isotopic calcium concentrations, and measuring the calcium content to determine parameters of calcium metabolism in the patient.

1. Abstract:

Method and apparatus for detecting and converting pressure signals to modulated light signals by microbending optical fibers as a function of the pressure signals. Transducers are described which include a length of multimode optical fiber supported at spaced points across a flexible diaphragm. Movement of the diaphragm in response to the pressure signals microbends the optical fiber to induce attenuation of light travelling along the fiber as a function of the signals.

Techniques for configurable event-based compute instance security assessments are described. A security assessment service receives one or more configuration messages, sent on behalf of a user, indicating a request to perform a security assessment of one or more computing resources managed by a service provider system responsive to any of one or more events being determined to have occurred. The security assessment is to include attempting to identify security vulnerabilities of the one or more computing resources. The security assessment service determines that an event of the one or more events has occurred subsequent to event data being reported that is indicative of the event, and performs the security assessment of the one or more computing resources responsive to the determining that the event has occurred.
