Glassman began his career with the Bell system where he held a variety of consulting and sales positions. While at Southern Bell he distinguished himself by implementing one of the first nationwide expanded toll free service networks to the airline industry. This was followed with several years at BellSouth where he worked in sales and managed projects for companies such as IBM, Nortel, GlaxoSmithKline, and SAS Institute. Robert was a BellSouth President’s Club member and received the Interdepartmental Manager’s award for his work with the Triangle Council of Governments School of the Future. In 1997 Robert entered the competitive local service arena with Business Telecom Inc. in Raleigh, NC as the Senior Product Manager. In addition to developing and managing the local products he assumed the responsibility of managing all of the voice services. At BTI Glassman hired and trained an overlay sales organization driving integrated voice/data products through alternate and direct sales channels. In his first year at BTI he grew the local exchange business from eight lines to over 75,000 lines. Glassman has achieved continued success throughout his career. Recently he was among the first in the Canadian market to compete with Bell Canada with a productized local bundle DSL service. Robert managed a portfolio of $72,000,000 in voice services throughout North America.
