Abstract:

Devices, apparatus, and methods of using a modified scalpel tool that is removable from a polyurethane mated sheath for use in carpal tunnel surgeries and the like. The modified scalpel tool has an elongated stem with a flat blade at the distal end and an elongated handle at the proximal end. The sheath has a cavity for allowing the elongated blade to be inserted therein, two slots to receive two metal studs and a handle at its proximal end. The flat blade tool-polyurethane when combined (mated) produces a stable configuration that allows motion in only one rotational plane and with an arc of 90-95 degrees.

Abstract:

In embodiments herein, a non-invasive surgical trigger finger repair device is provided. The device includes a proximal end including a component for coupling to a filament, a blunted distal end, an elongated straight section extending from the distal end toward the proximal end, and a curvilinear section between the elongated straight section and the proximal end, wherein manipulation of the device and targeting of the distal end occurs by movement of the curvilinear section and/or the proximal end.

Abstract:

An apparatus comprising as upper plate mounted on a pillar with pivotal means for motion is placed close to the axes of wrist action. By this construct a wide range of wrist positional opportunities is realized without producing unwanted elbow motion in a longitudinal or vertical plane. The practitioner enjoys ample access to the anatomy while being unburdened from repositioning the upper extremity due to unwanted shifts of the elbow and the shoulder. The hand and digits are secured to the upper plate. All materials of the apparatus are made from available stout material able to support the well-positioned upper extremity. A specialized positioning technique with guidelines for verification of proper apparatus utilization further separates the apparatus from the prior art.
