Abstract:

The present invention deals with the catalytic hydrogenation of fluid used to cool and dielectrically insulate an x-ray generating device within an x-ray system. According to the present invention, a method and apparatus are provided for hydrogenating fluid that has been exposed to x-rays to reduce the amount of H gas, free hydrogen atoms and unsaturated molecules in the fluid. The method comprises exposing the fluid within the x-ray system to a catalytically effective amount of catalyst. The catalyst operates in temperatures in the range of about 10-300Â C. and pressures in the range of about 0. 1-30 atmospheres. The catalyst may comprise a solid, non-soluble catalyst, a soluble catalyst, or a combination of both. A suitable solid, non-soluble catalyst comprises Group VIII elements and their compounds. Group VIII elements comprise iron, cobalt, nickel, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium and platinum.

Abstract:

In one aspect of the invention, a digital watermark detector comprises a memory buffer for managing an incoming stream of data. The detector includes logic for transferring overlapping data blocks from the memory buffer to a frequency domain transform processor, such as an FFT processor. The frequency domain transform processor including logic to re-use frequency domain transform operation results for overlapping portions of the data blocks. In another aspect of the invention, a digital watermark detector comprises a memory buffer for a block of data, and pipelined watermark processor segments. The segments each perform different watermark detector operations in series. These segments concurrently operate on different data segments of the block of data in a processing pipeline. One embodiment employs pipelined processors for setting up data for subsequent detecting stages, such as pipelined data conversion, re-sampling, pre-filtering and frequency domain transforms. Abstract:

A digital watermark detector comprises a memory buffer for receiving an incoming stream of data. The detector includes a registration module for determining registration of embedded data in blocks of the incoming stream of data, and logic for re-using the registration for subsequent blocks of the incoming stream of data to detect machine readable signals. Abstract:

Signal processing devices and methods estimate transforms between signals using a least squares technique. From a seed set of transform candidates, a direct least squares method applies a seed transform candidate to a reference signal and then measures correlation between the transformed reference signal and a suspect signal. For each candidate, update coordinates of reference signal features are identified in the suspect signal and provided as input to a least squares method to compute an update to the transform candidate. The method iterates so long as the update of the transform provides a better correlation. At the end of the process, the method identifies a transform or set of top transforms based on a further analysis of correlation, as well as other results.

Abstract:

Signal processing devices and methods estimate transforms between signals, and in particular, utilize techniques for estimating phase between a reference signal and a suspect signal. A phase estimation method estimates the phase of reference signal components in a suspect signal using a point spread function. The method provides a set of feature locations representing a discrete reference signal, applies a transform to the reference signal to provide a set of transformed locations, and then uses a point spread function to sample phase from the suspect signal at discrete sample locations in a neighborhood around the transformed locations. This process provides an estimate of phase of the suspect signal at locations corresponding to the transformed locations.

Abstract:

A multilayer film for coating an exterior of a scintillation detector bar includes a pressure sensitive adherent layer containing a percentage of a light-diffusing material therein for affixing to an external surface of the bar. A clear plastic layer separates the adherent layer from a specularly reflecting layer. A protective layer is disposed atop the specularly reflecting layer. The light-diffusing material and the specularly reflecting layer cooperate to retain light within the bar, direct light in random directions within the bar and block optical crosstalk between adjacent bars.
