Abstract:

Methods of screening for agents for treating inflammatory diseases are provided. The methods involve screening for agents that modulate the activity or expression of GPR64, which has been discovered herein to play a role in inflammatory diseases. Methods for treating an inflammatory disease, as well as methods of modulating the activity or expression of GPR64, methods of screening for an inflammatory disease in a subject, pharmaceutical compositions, a nucleic acid variant, and antibodies are also provided.

Abstract:

A system is disclosed for use in twisting together two or more wires precisely to a predetermined number of turns. The apparatus includes a pair of spaced chucks adapted to grip opposite ends of the wires which are placed therebetween for twisting. A manually operated switch causes the chuck jaws to close through a pneumatic control at the start of the twisting operation once the wires are in position. At the end of the twisting operation the jaws open automatically and the twisted wires are dropped. One of the chucks is fixed against rotation but is adapted to slide axially to a limited extent controlled by means of a coil spring in order to accommodate for the shortening of the wires as they are twisted. The other chuck is fixed against axial motion but rotatably mounted and driven by a motor adapted to rotate for a precise number of turns. A counting circuit controls the motor and includes means for twisting wires beyond the preset number of turns and then reversing the turns in order to remove any tendency for the twisted wires to unwind.

Abstract:

A device for reducing the backlobe radiation from small aperture antennas is shown to comprise a thin hemispherical radome having both radio frequency energy absorbing and reflecting materials attached thereto. The absoring material dissipates a portion of the edge currents existing on the antenna aperture, while the reflecting material intercepts a portion of the energy radiated from the antenna and reflects that portion back to the edge of the antenna to produce destructive interference with the edge currents.

Abstract:

A self-cleaning carpet system including a carpet base, a cleaning tube, a piston, a carpet fiber group, a water assembly and a vacuum assembly. The cleaning tube is mounted in the carpet base. The piston is operably mounted with respect to the cleaning tube for movement between a retracted position and an extended position. The carpet fiber group is attached to the piston. When the piston is in the retracted position, the carpet fiber group is substantially inside the cleaning tube. When the piston is in the extended position, at least a portion of the carpet fiber group extends from the cleaning tube. The water assembly is fluidly connected to the cleaning tube for delivering water to the cleaning tube. The vacuum assembly is fluidly connected to the cleaning tube for applying a vacuum to the cleaning tube.

Abstract:

The present invention is a martial arts training apparatus that includes a first mat having an opening, a second mat having an opening and a pair of handles pivotally mounted to opposite sides of the first mat. At the base of the handles are lateral extensions used to secure the first and second mats together in mating relation to secure a target between the first and second mat openings. In an unlocked position, the handles extend laterally from the sides of the first mat. In a locked position, the handles are pivoted to a position substantially perpendicular to a front side of the first mat. The handle extensions engage a back side of the second mat to lock the first and second mats together.
