Abstract:

An optically driven signal generator utilizes optical switches having a common output port and input ports alternately coupled to first and second potentials of opposite polarities. Optical pulses, with interpulse periods commensurate with a desired output frequency, sequentially operate the switches so that electrical signals of opposite polarities are alternately coupled to a common output port in a manner to establish a continuous electrical signal at a frequency that is commensurate with the interpulse periods.

Abstract:

A chemically and thermally stable explosive composition comprising hexanitrostilbene, a perhalogenate oxidizing agent, a sensitizing metal and a source of copper ions. The explosive composition is thermally stable up to a temperature of about 550. degree. F. and can be initiated by an exploding bridge wire or an electrostatic discharge of sufficient energy.

Abstract:

A method for preparing 2,6-bis(picrylamino)-3,5-dinitropyridine (PYX) which includes the steps of first dissolving crystalline PYX in a primary solvent in which the solvent used is selected from the group consisting of pyridine, dimethylformamide, methylsulfoxide or mixtures thereof. The primary solvent system is then combined with a second solvent in which the PYX is substantially insoluble, but which, in admixture with the primary solvent, forms a true solution of the PYX, referred to as the secondary solution. A third solvent is then added to the binary solvent system, which third solvent is soluble with the binary solvent system but which promotes precipitation of PYX in a form which exhibits improved characteristics as an explosive.

Abstract:

An improved shaped charge comprised of a bell-shaped casing, a shaped explosive material disposed within the casing having a cavity formed therein and a liner disposed within the cavity formed of compressed powdered metal is provided. The compressed powdered metal liner includes a coating of an unsaturated organic compound or mixture of such organic compounds thereon whereby the liner is protected from corrosion attack without adversely affecting the performance of the shaped charge. A method of preventing the corrosion of the compressed powdered metal liner of a shaped charge is also provided.

Abstract:

Systems and methods are provided for selecting and purchasing adventure packages on-line. The system includes a web site computer including a settlement module and a database configured to store indicia of a plurality of adventure packages from a plurality of outfitters, respectively; a user computer configured to interact with the web site computer through a network; and a settlement computer configured to interact with the web site computer through the network. The settlement module is configured to consummate the sale of a selected adventure package to the user in real time using the settlement computer as an intermediary. The indicia includes: i) an activity type comprising at least one of the attributes: hunting, fishing, and an interactive physical action; and ii) an attribute comprising at least one of: a specie, a license requirement, and a human physical requirement associated with the interactive physical action.
