Abstract:
A child-resistant closure is provided with a base having a deck with a discharge aperture. A lid having a bottom surface for engaging the base is hingedly connected to the base. The base has a resilient locking lever that projects the base deck at a location inwardly of the periphery of the base. The lever defines a shoulder. The lid has a central cover panel defining an aperture inwardly of the periphery of the lid for receiving the lever when the lid is closed. The lid defines a latch surface adjacent the aperture for confronting the base lever shoulder when the lid is closed. The periphery of the lid defines a finger-engaging surface laterally offset relative to the lid aperture, and the finger-engaging surface extends progressively outwardly with increasing distance from the lid bottom surface. The portion of the base that extends from the hinge connection is configured to project peripherally outwardly at least as far as the lid bottom surface when the lid is closed. The portion of the lid periphery that extends from the hinge connection is free of overhanging peripheral surfaces of sufficient depth to be liftingly engaged by a child's teeth.

Abstract:
A tamper-evident closure is provided with a base for attachment to a container, and the base defines a discharge aperture. A lid is movable between a closed position and an open position with respect to the discharge aperture. A manually releasable latch holds the lid closed on the base. A tamper-indicating element is mounted adjacent the latch. In one form of the invention, the element has a removable part defining a tool. According to another aspect of the invention, the removable part of the element is broken away when the latch is operated. In yet another form of the invention, the element prevents operation of the latch until the removable part of the element is first removed.
A closure is provided for the opening to a container interior. The closure includes a body for mounting to the container at the opening. The body defines a dispensing passage for communicating between the container exterior and interior. The body also defines a recess, and the closure includes a lid movable between a closed position covering the dispensing passage and an open position wherein the lid is retracted into the recess in a storage orientation permitting the dispensing of the container contents.

Abstract:
A tamper-evident closure is provided with a base having a deck with a discharge aperture. A lid is included for covering the discharge aperture on the base. The lid defines a latch aperture. The base has a resilient locking lever that projects from the base deck and through the lid latch aperture when the lid is closed. The lever engages the lid and holds the lid closed. A tamper-indicating element is provided on the lid to prevent operation of the lever. The element is attached to the lid with frangible portions which can be broken when sufficient force is applied to remove at least a part of the element and permit operation of the lever whereby another part of the element remains on the lid to provide evidence that part of the element has been removed.

Abstract:
A system is provided for holding a dispensing valve that has a peripheral mounting flange and that is operable to discharge the contents from the interior of a container. The system includes a body for extending from the container. The body has a seat for engaging part of the valve mounting flange. The body has a resilient hinge and a protrusion that (1) extends from the hinge, and (2) has an abutment surface. The system includes a retainer for mounting to the body. The retainer has a seat for engaging part of the valve mounting flange. The retainer has a resilient hinge and an engaging member that (1) extends from the retainer hinge, and (2) has an abutment surface. The hinges accommodate deflection of the protrusion and engaging member as the protrusion and engaging member move past each other and establish abutting engagement of the protrusion abutment surface with the engaging member abutment surface as relative movement is effected between the body and retainer so as to clamp the valve mounting flange between the body seat and retainer seat.

Abstract:
A removal resistant closure and container assembly is provided. The container defines an opening. The closure is applied to the container to occlude the opening. A first thread is defined by the container and extends at least partially around the opening from a leading end to a trailing end. A second thread is defined by the closure and extends at least partially around the closure form a leading end to a trailing end. A projection is defined adjacent one of the first and second threads. The projection and the one thread define a space between them which is less than the width of the other of the threads. Either the projection or the other thread, or both, are resilient to accommodate deformation during relative rotational movement of the container and closure. When the closure and container are screwed together, the threads are relatively axially displaced from a threadingly engaged condition to a disengaged condition which resists re-engagement.
