Abstract:
A device and method for forming bone tunnels. The device has a conical tip with a spiral cutting edge intended to be pushed into the bone. After penetrating the bone to the desired depth the device is able to be rotated back out of the tunnel without excessive strain on the wall of the bone tunnel.

Abstract:
A traction tower trap assembly with straps and finger traps that are easily adjustable and releasable. The traction tower assembly includes straps for parts of the arm, such as the patient's bicep or forearm, and finger traps to traction parts of the arm and fingers for surgical procedures. The forearm traction tower assembly includes a tower having first and second sides. The tower is connected to a base plate with a first and second slots extending partially therethrough. The assembly includes a strap made of a length of material attached to first and second adjustment mechanisms. The first adjustment mechanism is slidable within the first slot of the base plate and the second adjustment mechanism is slidable within the second slot of the base plate.

Abstract:
A microfracture device for creating small holes in a bone. The microfracture device includes a handle having a body extending along a central longitudinal axis with a proximal end and a distal end; a shaft connected to the distal end of the body, the shaft having a distal tip; wherein the distal tip extends at first angle relative to the central longitudinal axis; a sliding mechanism slidably engaged with a surface of the body and moveable between a first configuration and a second configuration; and wherein the sliding mechanism further comprises a striking surface extending therefrom, wherein the striking surface is positioned at a second angle to the central longitudinal axis that is at least substantially similar to the first angle.

Abstract:
A suture backstop system for loading an all-suture backstop on a suspension system in a bone tunnel. The suture backstop system has a backstop with a first and second end both extending in a distal direction. The system includes a first passing longitudinal element woven through the backstop such that a first loop is created in the first passing longitudinal element and extends from the first end of the backstop. Similarly, the system also includes a second passing longitudinal element woven through the backstop such that a second loop is created in the second passing longitudinal element and extends from the second end of the backstop. The first and second passing longitudinal elements are attached to a distal end of a handle. The first and second ends of the backstop are positioned in a first direction in an undeployed configuration and positioned in a second direction, different from the first direction, in a deployed configuration.

Abstract:
A suture passing drill for passing suture through bone. The suture passing drill includes a proximal end and a distal end with an elongated shaft extending therebetween. The elongated shaft has first portion with a first diameter. The drill also includes a wire loop extending from the proximal end of the elongated shaft and a drill tip at the distal end of the elongated shaft. The elongated shaft has a narrow portion with a second diameter, which is smaller than the first diameter. The narrow portion is positioned proximally adjacent relative to the drill tip. The narrow portion is preferably created through coining. Coining prevents the need for machining the outer diameter (or surface) of the elongated shaft proximal to the drill tip in order to create a larger drill tip. The larger drill tip of the suture passing drill allows for passage of the entire drill through the bone hole.

Abstract:
A suture anchor driver with a tensioning mechanism. The suture anchor driver has a handle with a proximal end and a distal end. The handle has a recess with a shaft extending centrally therefrom. The suture anchor driver has a detent ring and a spool. The detent ring has a central aperture and one or more projections. The spool has a central aperture and is rotatable between first and second configurations. The spool has a plurality of protrusions extending from its side. The shaft extends through the central apertures in the detent ring and spool such that the projections of the detent ring are adjacent the protrusions extending from the spool. In the first configuration, one of the projections extends between two of the protrusions. In the second configuration, one of the projections is aligned with one of the protrusions.

Abstract:
A suture passer device for passing a length of suture through an object. The suture passer device includes a hollow tube having a proximal end and a curved distal tube portion extending to a distal end. The suture passer device also includes a handle attached to the proximal end of the hollow tube, an actuator on the handle movable between first, second, and third positions, and an internal arm within the curved distal tube portion and connected to the actuator. The internal arm is movable between first, second, and third configurations. When the actuator is in the first position, the internal arm extends out from the distal tube portion at an angle from the distal tube portion in the first configuration. When the actuator is in the second position, the internal arm is retracted within the distal tube portion in the second configuration.

Abstract:
A polished surface of an arthroscopic instrument for improving visualization of the portion of an ankle joint under repair known as the gutter. The instrument has a handle, a shaft, and a head, at least a portion of the head is polished to provide a mirrored surface for viewing the gutter. Alternatively, the arthroscopic instrument may have a handle, a shaft, and a head, where the head is cylindrical and includes a plurality of apertures extending along the axis of the cylindrical head to define a plurality of guides.
