I have devoted much of my time away from work to various civic initiatives, providing both funding and leadership to regional and national organizations alike. I was a founding board member that helped establish a local hospice. I was a founding board member of the Jensen-Olsen Arboretum. I have been active as a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Archbishop Seghers Council No. 1760. I was noted for my work with the American Primrose Society, were I spent four years as national Editor of the group’s quarterly journal, Primroses. I had a chapter, "Auriculas" published in the book Southeast Alaska Gardening. In my free time, I enjoy tying flies, both fresh and salt water, fly-fishing, astronomy, and gardening.
