Abstract:

A coffee percolator includes conventional elements such as an electrical heating element, an on/off switch for energizing the heating element and a thermostatic switch for deactivating the heating element when the brewing coffee reaches a predetermined first temperature. The coffee percolator further includes a conventional pump and a coffee ground receptacle disposed in the upper portion of the inner chamber of the percolator. The invention resides in the inclusion of a temperature actuated pump for deactivating the pump when the temperature of the fluid in the inner chamber of the percolator is less than a second temperature. The second temperature is below the first temperature which activates the thermostatic switch. The temperature actuated pump control means includes an aperture disposed in the coffee pump to release fluid under pressure from the pump and thereby to disable the pump at low fluid temperatures. A thermostatically actuated valve closes off the aperture in the pump when the temperature of the fluid in the chamber exceeds the second temperature and uncovers the aperture when the temperature of the fluid in the chamber falls below the second temperature.

Abstract:

A piezo-resistive pressure sensor element is formed in the front face of a silicon wafer. A thin diaphragm is formed under the sensing element by anisotropically etching a cavity from the rear face of the wafer. The rear face (cavity-side) rupture pressure of the silicon diaphragm is at least doubled by subjecting the anisotropically etched cavity to a mild isotropic etch. This substantially improves the cavity-side over-pressure rating of the finished pressure sensor without any significant change in the device sensitivity or allows higher sensitivity to be obtained for the same over-pressure rating or intermediate combinations thereof.

Abstract:

An assembly for conveying sports equipment includes a first pulley, a second pulley, and a belt extending between and movable around the pulleys. A plurality of engagement members are coupled to the belt such that they travel along a path extending from the first pulley to the second pulley and back. The second pulley is spaced apart from the first pulley along a first axis, and along a second axis that is perpendicular to the first axis such that the belt is inclined toward the second pulley, and such that sports equipment engaged with an engagement member beneath the first pulley will advance toward the second pulley. A stop member is offset from the path of the engagement members such that empty engagement members can proceed beyond the stop member, and the stop member is configured to stop motion of the belt upon contacting sports equipment conveyed by engagement members.

Abstract:

A fin assembly for aqua resistance exercise comprises a strap having an inner strap and an outer strap, and with fastener(s) provided to an outside of the inner strap and an inside of the outer strap to releasably attach the inner and outer straps together. One or more fins are received on the outer strap and a longitudinal position of the one or more fins is secured by engagement of the inner strap to the outer strap. The length of the inner strap is longer than a length of the outer strap, so that an extending end portion of the outer strap can overlap and engage an opposite end of the outer strap to secure the fin assembly about the user's limb.
