  • International Classification:
    F16N 1100
  • US Classification:
    184 151
  • Abstract:
A fixture facilitating the lubrication of cables including a housing having a clamping portion and a resilient insert to receive and capture the elongate cable and the end of the cable sheath, the compressible material being clamped around these portions. A valved lubricant aperture is provided in the fixture for introducing lubricant under pressure to the cable sheath while preventing blowback of the pressurized lubricant. The compressible insert in the fixture is designed to be captured in the base of one portion of the fixture and at another point in the moving portion of the fixture to allow it to be opened and closed for insertion and removal of the cable and sheath.
  • Indexable Insert Grinding Machine

    view source
  • US Patent:
    44635249, Aug 7, 1984
  • Filed:
    Dec 26, 1978
  • Appl. No.:
    5/972704
  • Inventors:
Lawrence A. Schott - Detroit MI
Roger A. Schott - Detroit MI
  • International Classification:
    B24B 1702
  • US Classification:
    51127
  • Abstract:
A machine and procedures for finish grinding of indexable cutting tool inserts made of tungsten carbide and other similar materials which includes a fixture for positioning inserts individually in a work holder and moving the work holder to a position in which the work is adjacent a rotating grinding wheel. Control device moves the insert into contact with the wheel with a gauge limiting the contact and also providing for rapidly turning an insert from one flat edge to another flat edge to avoid overgrinding of the corners and to speed up the ultimate grinding of all of the flat sides of a polygonal insert.
  • Windmill Structure And Power Generator

    view source
  • US Patent:
    43166997, Feb 23, 1982
  • Filed:
    Aug 24, 1979
  • Appl. No.:
    6/069290
  • Inventors:
Lawrence A. Schott - Detroit MI
Roger A. Schott - Redford MI
  • International Classification:
    F03D 106
    F03D 704
  • US Classification:
    416139
  • Abstract:
A windpower generator which includes a cupped blade design to be assembled from flat module sheets together with a resiliently biased mount to provide automatic feathering with a consequent speed control. A generator or alternating generator to feed electric output to an existing power system, as, for example, a residence or small business establishment, is associated with the windmill to serve as a counterbalance in the mounting and to cooperate with the self-governing blade assembly. A switching circuit is connected to feed generator power to the local utility power lines when net power is available at the winddriven alternator and in phase with utility power.
  • Lock For Vehicles

    view source
  • US Patent:
    40076148, Feb 15, 1977
  • Filed:
    Nov 3, 1975
  • Appl. No.:
    5/628395
  • Inventors:
Roger A. Schott - Detroit MI
Lawrence A. Schott - Detroit MI
  • International Classification:
    B62H 500
  • US Classification:
    70234
  • Abstract:
A lock device for vehicles such as bicycles and motorcycles having tubular frames which comprises a cable or chain threaded into an opening in a frame member with a stop to prevent full extraction from the frame, and a loop to receive a padlock shackle to lock the vehicle to a post or to lock the wheel of a vehicle to prevent rotation.
  • Lubricating Apparatus And System

    view source
  • US Patent:
    44971494, Feb 5, 1985
  • Filed:
    May 18, 1981
  • Appl. No.:
    6/264788
  • Inventors:
Lawrence A. Schott - Detroit MI
Roger A. Schott - Redford MI
  • International Classification:
    F16C 314
  • US Classification:
    52174
  • Abstract:
A system and apparatus for under chassis servicing of vehicles for oil change and lubrication which involves a central cashier's booth with a plurality of service stalls radially disposed. Special self-adjusting ramp track pairs are provided at each service stall to accommodate vehicles with different track widths. The ramp tracks are responsive to the front wheel tires and parallelling mechanism maintains the parallel relationship of the tracks.
  • Handlebar Safety Light

    view source
  • US Patent:
    47165022, Dec 29, 1987
  • Filed:
    Nov 7, 1986
  • Appl. No.:
    6/928092
  • Inventors:
Roger A. Schott - Redford MI
Lawrence A. Schott - Redford MI
  • Assignee:
Freedom Industries, Inc. - Redford MI
  • International Classification:
    B62J 600
  • US Classification:
    362 72
  • Abstract:
A signal light for removable assembly to a bicycle handlebar or the like comprising a cylindrical battery shell of electrically non-conductive construction having a circumferential array of orthogonally spaced axially extending resilient arcuate ribs integrally projecting outwardly of the shell between the shell ends. Such ribs have an outer diameter for resilient press-fit insertion of the shell into a handlebar end, such that the ribs function simultaneously to retain the shell in the handlebar end, to center the shell therewithin, and to adapt to various internal diameter sizes of handlebars. A lamp has a base received into the open outer end of the shell and is retained thereon by a translucent lens which is press-fitted over the shell outer end. An electrically conductive strip extends externally of the shell from an inner end in spring-biased electrical contact with batteries within the shell to an outer end within the shell parallel to but spaced from the lamp base. A switch element carried for lateral sliding motion by the lens has a tab which projects through the shell wall to selectively cam the outer end of the conductive strip into electrical abutment or engagement with the lamp base for completing an electrical circuit through the batteries and lamp, or for releasing the strip end to its normal position spaced from the lamp base.
  • Helmet With Turn Signal Indicators

    view source
  • US Patent:

    340 73
  • Abstract:
A helmet with turn signal indicator for motorcycle riders and like applications includes a pair of lamps respectively disposed on left-hand and right-hand sides of the helmet body, and head tilt switches responsive to momentary tilting of the wearer's head in a given direction for selectively energizing the lamp on the corresponding helmet side. The lamps are driven by flasher holding circuits which may be selectively extinguished by rearward tilting of the wearer's head. Fiber optics extend within the helmet from adjacent the lamps to above the wearer's eyes to indicate operation to the wearer.
