A transducer interface system/method allowing conversion from an analog sensor input to a standardized analog output interface is disclosed. In some preferred embodiments the system/method permits a fiber optic pressure sensor to be interfaced to a standard patient care monitor (PCM) system using standardized Wheatstone Bridge analog interface inputs. Within this context the Wheatstone Bridge sensed output is defined by stimulus from the PCM and modulation of bridge element values by the conditioned output of an analog pressure sensor. The use of analog-to-digital-to-analog conversion in this transducer interface permits retrofitting of PCM devices having analog Wheatstone Bridge inputs with advanced patient monitoring sensors without the need for specialized modifications to the baseline PCM data collection framework. Methods disclosed herein include techniques to connect arbitrary types/numbers of analog sensors to traditional PCM systems without the need for PCM system hardware/software modifications.

Abstract:
A dental appliance is provided which includes a bite block made of formable material which includes a tongue stabilizer and a suction tube slidably and removably secured in the bite block for removing debris from the mouth cavity. The appliance may include a raised area for securing the appliance with the patient's teeth during performance of the dental procedures and a posterior vein located in the sidewall of the bite block with an aperture placed in the posterior vein for the suctioning of debris and saliva from the soft palate region of the mouth cavity behind the bite block. A slidably and removably secured rod for transmitting a fiber optic light source for illumination of at least a portion of the mouth cavity may also be included.

Abstract:
A general purpose array processor is made up of a plurality of independent processing units. A digital host computer provides the overall control for the system. An interface unit is connected to receive instructions and data signals from the host computer and then to autonomously and selectively distribute the instructions and data to other units within the system and to transmit status, control and data signals to the digital host computer. A transfer controller unit is connected to a bulk memory and to the interface unit for receiving the instructions from the interface unit and for autonomously and selectively transferring data signals from the bulk memory means to an arithmetic unit which is also connected to the interface means and receives instructions therefrom for subsequently autonomously and selectively performing arithmetic functions on the data transferred by the transfer controller unit. An input controller unit may be provided for receiving data from a data source. The input controller unit is connected to the other units and to the bulk memory and receives the data from the source of data and reformats and transmits the reformatted data to the bulk memory.
