Assignee:
Rohm and Haas Company - Philadelphia PA
International Classification:
B01D 5314
US Classification:
95232, 423237
Abstract:
A method which reduces iron contamination of a system which receives ammonia from an ammonia recovery process by one or more of the following techniques: a) Physically separating iron oxide, iron containing colloidal particles, and liquid droplets from the gas stream; b) Preventing AC from depositing on piping via elimination of condensation, thereby preventing corrosion of the piping; or c) Installing piping and equipment that is not susceptible to corrosive attack by AC, thereby eliminating the source of iron contamination.

Abstract:
Separations processes and apparati capable of purifying thermally sensitive materials at high capacity. An apparatus having a rectification section and a stripping section with the stripping section having a stripping tray with 5 to 50% open area, a pressure drop from 0. 02 psi to 0. 2 psi and a tray efficiency during operation of the column which is equal to or greater than 20%.

US Classification:
423238, 422240, 423352
Abstract:
An improved process for ammonia recovery is provided for the recovery of substantially pure ammonia for use in industrial processes. In this improved method, specific raw materials and/or specific materials of construction are used. Overall efficiency and operational cost savings are increased as a result of the process of the present invention.
Process For Recovery And Recycle Of Ammonia From A Reactor Effluent Stream
Abraham Benderly - Houston TX, US Michael DeCourcy - Houston TX, US Ronald Myers - Houston TX, US
International Classification:
C01C003/00 C01C001/04
US Classification:
423/238000
Abstract:
The present invention provides a novel process of recovering unreacted ammonia from a reactor effluent. This novel process includes at least the following steps: (1) quenching a reactor effluent containing ammonia with a first aqueous ammonium phosphate quench solution, wherein the pH of the solution is less than about 3.5, thereby absorbing ammonia to form a second aqueous ammonium phosphate solution richer in ammonium (NH) ions than the first solution but substantially free of dissolved CO, (2) heating the second solution to an elevated temperature to reduce the amount of ammonium ions present to substantially the same level present in the first solution and thereby generate a vaporous stream containing ammonia, (3) recycling said vaporous stream containing ammonia to a reaction zone in a manner that minimizes the contamination of the reaction zone.

Abstract:
A lab-scale reactor unit comprises a body of thermal insulating material, a reaction chamber formed within the body of thermal insulating material, a pressure containment vessel disposed about the body of thermal insulating material, the pressure containment vessel having an inlet communicating with the reaction chamber, the pressure containment vessel having an outlet communicating with the reaction chamber and a quench cooler operatively connected to the outlet of the pressure containment vessel.

International Classification:

US Classification:
423/235000
Abstract:
The methods of the present invention relate to reducing and eliminating waste oxide gas emissions, produced by a first industrial process, by utilizing the emissions in a second industrial process that either is benefited by or tolerates the components of the waste oxide gas stream. These methods are applicable to numerous combinations of first industrial processes and second industrial processes.
